  1. A few more shots outside looking in wilde prefers lower perches than the others, always has Sebby prefers higher perches getting closer real close everyone in a row now pretty colours Ino genes don't allow them to hide well
  2. I am still going to require wire to hand the branches. It is not the attching of the wire I am worried about
  3. The wire in those is thick wire. There is no way to catch on those things. I need to use something to hold up branches. What suggestions do you have?
  4. Sorry, patience was never, and still is not, my strong suit. She looks great. Well done.
  5. Tomorrow i am going into the aviary with pliers and wire. I am going to remove anything that could be a problem, snip here, trim there.
  6. Was that meant to be a picture? I cannot see one
  7. Well, turns out she has a broken leg. They are going to set it and I will pick her up tomorrow. She will get some quality inside time.
  8. cool, I will go do that
  9. i have some calcivet, should I administer it to her by syringe, or should i put some in water for her?
  10. there have been two eggs layed from a perch, but i am not sure whose they belong to. No sign of egg bum that i can see. Her leg ring is loose She might have got caught on some wire, not sure
  11. I went out and checked on the avairy and one of my birds was on the ground, as in laying there injured. She got up and moved, but she cannot use her left leg at all. I got her out of the aviary and had a look at the leg. It is non-responsive. She is fighting fit, healthy and biting hard. Her wings are fine, so I am thinking that she may have broken the leg. She can fly, so she does not appear to have had a stroke, as it is just her leg that is non-responsive, not the left side of her body. She also lost some flight feathers in the catching of her, thus there is a little bit of blood on one wing, but it is unrelated to the leg injury. Vet appointment at 5pm. Here are some pics. Experienced owners and breeders, opionion are welcome. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p125/dm...llness/foot.jpg
  12. There is a limit ont he number of pics you can do. But if you do two posts under each other, we can merge them.
  13. they are cairn terriers by the way. Like toto in the wizard of Oz
  14. Right idea pearce. You asked what if there are more than 4 chicks? You have to remember that this $ all theoretical. It is not like that birds turn around and go, okay, you are the 4th chick, so you HAVE to be this combination. For example, earlier in this thread, I posted a picture of 2 birds. One was a YF2 cobalt spangle the other was a sky blue normal carrying violet and cinnamon. They have 4 offspring. Two were violet sky blue spangles, one was a YF2 sky blue cinnamon wing spangle and the other was a yf2 normal sky blue. Of the 4 young, 3 were spangled, not the 50% the theory tells you. Mum was cinnamon, Dad carried cinnamon, but only 1 cinnamon. It is all theoretical. It is possible to breed a spangle to a normal and have 5 chicks, all which are normals.
  15. Gerneic blue - I love that second pair. I will follow this thread with great interest. In terms of what you are doing wrong when posting pics, after every picture, press enter, so start every picture on a new line. that will spread them out more and make them look better.
  16. I know this is asking a lot, but can we get a picture of him flying in the aviary? We all love the fact that the little guy made it, especially after that picture you showed us of the bleeding area on the back of the head. we all were very worried at that point. So congrats, but a picture woudl be awesome.
  17. I had an ex-student of mine make me one. It means that the what owuld have cost me $3000 in the shops I got for $1335.
  18. some cute birds in there. I changed a little spacing to make it easier to read. Hope that is okay
  19. okay, the back is fine, no problems. No more talk about it, scared of jinxing it - LOL. There are three doors to get through for tess to get out. unfortuantely, two were open, and the third, the garage door, coudl not close as was jammed open. But bring the well trained dog she is, she did not go out there - absolute miracle. I once tested the dogs to see what they would do if they ever got out. One Sunday morning at about 7am I let them out and attempted to call them back. Mac went about 20 minutes then came back. Tess ran out of the townhouses where I live, about 50-100 metres, and I was worried, then she realised she could not see me and so she came running back. When i used to take them for walks thru some bushland, they would both be off the lead, and tess used to run ahead, but when she could not see me she would run back. No probs there as there was no traffic. Not willing to try it again around the suburbs
  20. So you were on the end of the shovel and broom, and Liv was on the end of the ........................... camera?   Look forward to seeing more updates
  21. Pet shop advice. As useful as chewing gum to solve a problem - unless of course your problem is the need to chew some gum Welcome to the forum by the way.
  22. You Linux people, always arguing that you beloved software is better than the big 2 - LOL!!!
  23. I cut up and added some new gum tree branches earlier today. It was quite an ordeal (click the word ordeal to read what happened) Anyway, here are some pics. The aviary as it looks now. The view that they slightly lose, but the trade off is worth it. Various eating, chewing and hiding. You can see why only green birds blend into the native foliage.
  24. We had a massive storm here a few days ago and some gum tree branches had fallen, so I thought, they will be great for my aviary. So I was coming home from helping my sister, and I got her to drop me off in front of this massive branch and I would drag it home. My sister and her boys were not overly keen on the idea of me dragging this massive branch as they thought I would hurt my easily damaged back, but I said I would be alright. So anyway, I dragged the branch home, using my shoulder to sit the branch on at one end and simply dragged the rest. Probably about 500 metres, so a big effort. I got the branch home, and decided to cut it up, outside my place. I thought "I'll just drop the branch here". I lifted it off my shoulder and went to drop it and went bang, and the bit where the branch had snapped hit my head. It cut my head and blood starting pouring out. Great - way to go - idiot!!!! So I came inside and cleaned that up. No stitches needed, but a lot of blood. Now to cut up the branches. To get to the saw, I needed to move a table that would stop my garage door from closing fully when it is closed by the remote control. No problem, I will just have to be careful not to let the dogs escape. So I move the table, get the saw and cut up the branches. How am I going to get my branches inside to the aviary? I decide not to move the car (only entry to the yard is through sliding doors at the back of the garage), inside floor needs a vacuum anyway, so I will take them through the house. No problem. I dragged 3 inside after me, moving the barrier that stopped the dogs running out, and the dogs run in front of me. I drag them out into the back yard and proceed to hose the branches down. Tess, my youngest dog, has by this stage, run back inside as she is scared of the hose. I turn the hose off and hear a beeping sound. What is that? Oh no, the garage door cannot go down as the table is in the way. Tess was inside, she has got out. I run for the garage, pulling a door closed behind me down to stop Mac, my other dog (avatar) from charging out after me and Tess, and drop down to the ground, climb under the door, and run down the street looking for Tess. No sign of her. I run around to the park, calling out her name. No sign of her. I see another woman with a dog and asked her if she has seen another little dog running around, explain what Tess is like, and ask her to grab her if she sees her. I think, "she could have been gone for 10 minutes". I run back to my house, thinking I need my car to drive around and look for her. I drag the other branches out of the way, phsycially lift the garage door to enable the automatic garage door opener to re-engage, the door goes up, I run inside to get my phone, and there is Mac and TESS, staring up at me, wondering what the *** I am doing and why I am causing such a commotion? My heart almost skipped a beat. She did not run outside, she was never out of the house. Phew!!!! What an ordeal!!! Tess was safe, so I got the rest of the branches, put them in the aviary, and came inside, greatly relieved. Mac and Tess Tess Mac In case you are wondering, I will put new pics up in this thread Wattle Flights thread
