Two Birds By Themselves
do nto provide any water as it willspill. Instead, wet a spinach lead and put it in there. Your bird can get water from the water ont he leaf and fromt he leaf itself.

Beetroot Is The New Toy
Depends on the bird. Some of mine has worn off already, some seem to have assisted the process by washing their faces. Sebby will keep her face dirty if she can, by beetroot, or by spinach.

Wattle Flights
No colony breeding. In the process of setting up a new breeding room. Previously I have used the garage, smaller aviary - hexagonal aviary - or I have enclosed one of my semi-enclosed pergolas

Beetroot Is The New Toy
It might be. I will have to search for the recipe on here for making seed bells as well. there has to be a better way than using a glue.

Wattle Flights

Greens
Yes, it is all due to the number of dark factors. For example, you can have two grey birds and one can be darker than the other, as it is due to having 2 dark factors. An olive green has 2 dark factors, so a greygreen from an olive parent may look visually darker due to dark factors when compared to a greygreen from a light green parent.

Scaley Face Not Always On Face
Have a look a the picture above. Notice her feet. I had not noticed until Kaz pointed it out to me. She has developed "scaley face" on her feet. She needed to be treated and ASAP. I caught her, put a spot of Ivermectin on the back of her head. I then put Olive oil on her feet. Then I returned her to the aviary. She appears much better. The big lumps have gone from her feet and her skin is returning to the normal colour. I will give her a few more weeks, then I will repeat this process. I often look over my birds for scaley face, checking beaks and ceres, but rarely do I look at feet. Remember, just because their beaks are clear, it does not mean that the rest of them is fine. An important lesson for all bird owners to remember!!! I will take some new pics and update you on her progress.

Greens
There is an excellent site that I have looked at that explains colour mutations. http://www.budgieplace.com/colorsguide.html For the Greens Light Green No dark factor in a green (yellow-based) budgie relults in the classic light green variety. Dark Green One dark factor in a green (yellow-based) budgie relults in the dark green variety. Olive Green Two dark factors in a green (yellow-based) budgie relults in the olive variety. Grey Green Grey factor in a normal yellow-based budgie results in the grey-green variety.

Beetroot Is The New Toy
Great point Jaznjj. The seed bells are for entertainment. The natural perches provide entertainment in ripping off the bark. Callistemon and gum tree branches provide heaps of entertainment. Calcium blocks and cuttlefish. All these can provide nutrients, but they also provide entertainment, and that is good. As for Sebby, the messy Fallow - yes Pearce, she is a Fallow split recessive pied, she is the trouble maker in the aviary. there are times I wish she was covered in beetroot, but it has been blood. She may be small, but she is not to be messed with.

Beetroot Is The New Toy
Not a honey bell, seed bell, but not honey It is as much for destroying as anything else. Like a toy. They will eat a bit, and demolish other bits. It is not their primary sounrce of seed, but it is a source.

T.c.b. And Albino Together To Breed.
i would say water. Be careful to not make it worse. A damp cloth is the first attempt.

What Colour Do You Think This Bird Is ?
easiest way to find out with a good looking show bird like that is to put him down with a hen you know the geneology of and see what you get - LOL

Photos Of Some Of My Birds
Great looking birds Splat. Some of their colours look "electric". I know the flash does that, but they look awesome. A lot of boofy heads in that lot. Specifically I love your DF and SF spangles. Thanks for sharing these pics with us

What Colour Do You Think This Bird Is ?
I would have said Yellow face type II mauve. Always have trouble differentiating between mauve and grey. As i understand it, greys ahve grey cheek patches, mauve's have blue/violet cheek patches. His cheek patches do not look grey to me, and he defintiely does not look cinnamon to me

Newbies
Hi, welcome to the forum. Just a question before i go any further, are you quarnatining the new ones awa from Bluey for a month and doing all the worming, etc? If you did not and have already exposed him, then I would simply treat them all now like they are new birds, and worm them all together, and treat them all together as if they are new birds, going through the whole quarnatine procedure. As for you birds, Sarah is definitely an albino. In the close up photo, it looks like there is a tinge of yellow there as well. A white bird that has yellow throughout their body is generally referred to as a creamino, but if that is just from some food, then yes, Sarah is an albino hen Your grey bird is a female. Ben is what we I would classify as a Yellow Face Type II sky blue. This means he is a blue bird, with a yellow face, but the yellow has bled throughout his body, giving him a greenish tinge. I would call his colour seafoam green. Others on here debate this, but i think there is some evidence that the yellow has mixed with the blue in his feathers. Some of your pics are oversized so I have had to change them to links. The pics are not allowed to be bigger than 640 x 480. I see they are in photobucket. Photobucket has a feature that allows you to resize them to 640 x 480. If you resize them, we can put them back up as pics. Your birds are very cute, but there are always issues with having an uneven number. I say you should buy 1 more, from the same place, ASAP. Buy a female. Maybe a Lutino - yellow with red eyes. That way, everyone can pair up, as in have a buddy. No one is left out.
