Breeding in Ken's Aviary
I am assuming that this is all colony breeding. Do the other birds not attack each others nest's like budgie's do?
-
Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
at the moment, when it is young, it might be possible to foster it, but once it starts growing, the adult budgies will reject it, and may attack it

IS it wired at the bottom?

Red Belly Black Snakes
hate to say it Neat, but you remove one and another will move into the territory. This is one of the hazards of living in our beautiful country. We like these areas where it is natural looking, with bushland. I am sure that people have seen my thread about the blue tongue lizard. 3 blue toungues that I know of in 3 years, and I have saved 2. One i was too late too, one dog ripped it apart. It could have easily been a snake. Nothing much you can do. Remove one, another will move into the territory.

Who Hit The Accelerator? - Eggs Everywhere!
Wow, very busy at your place. Good luck with it all. Nothing more upsetting, or is it frustrating, then clear eggs. Funny, they are the breeding pair, but we feel kind of let down when this happens. Funny feeling.

Aviary Base
So this aviary is sitting on a decking? So it is on wood? Can you give us a picture of where you propose to sit it? I do not think that people do not want to help, we are all jsut a little confused here.

Some Of My Babies
It is so hard not to look at some great birds and get jeaouls, and want to let them breed. I know everytime I see some pics I think "I will set up my breeding cages" but self control is important. personally I think there are a lot of people on here that buy birds and want them to breed straight away. We have all counselled against it, but beautiful pics such as these make it so hard - LOL

I Am Sooo Devastated!
Opinion is divided on this. Perosnally, once a hen attacks a young one, then that is it for me. You may use her for breeding, but foster her eggs our to other hens. Best not to risk it I say. Sorry for your loss.

Pairing In The Breeding Cabinet
Now I know you said that the offspring of these are going to be the basis of your new breeding lines, but really, there are 11 eggs. Surely some could come my way - LOL!!

Designed To Catch Rats, However...
I put a cage to catch rats beside my aviary, and I have been laid up for a couple of weeks, with my dogs staying with me at my parents house, however they came home today, a day after me. There was a lot of interest in the rat trap, beside the aviary, and I soon saw why. I had not caught a rat, but instead a blue tongue lizard. Here are some pics. In the trap The area I was going to release him into The released blue tongue I know some people are probably thinking, how long was he in there? Well, hard to say, but he was very alert, hissing at me, and moved very well when released. Suprisingly fast for a lizard like that.

Gracie And Darius
they are very cute - I love spangles so that is even better.

Breeding Help
I once had this situation, and I had to play "mean god" Not only did I remove the eggs and dispose of them, I double cheked the avairy and removed any opportunities they had for laying eggs. These days, I get inexperienced hens dropping eggs from perches, but no laying of eggs

Are These The Real Parents Of Babies Posted On This Forum ?

You are a resepcted and valued member of this forum. Everytime you respond to this banned member, you are playing into his hands. He is gone, for good. You have nothing to prove.

Fostering Last Surviving Chick
I have had some really angry Mum's who squawk a lot and look to bite. I have had to chase them out of the nestbox, then use a plastic container lid to ensure they do not come back in the nest box whilst I check their young. It seems distressing at times, but there is little else I can do. You have to check the young, no matter what.

Swingers?
I agree with Kaz. Put all 4 together, sure, but not in a breeding cabinet, but rather in a holding cage. No nestboxes, nothing to indiciate it is a P&O cruise (those things are all about hooking up), just a noraml cage, where they have room to fly, perch, match up and mate if they feel the need.

How And What Age To Ring Budgie Chicks?
I am sure there was a topic on here. You could do a search. I was given an excellent little book the other day that walked you through the methods. If I ever get home again, I will scan it and post it on here, and we can pin it, if the topic does not already exist.
