  1. You have some nice young there, cute picture of the bird hatching too
  2. Well done Splat- the birds look in tip top shape. and the baking dish is probably worth more than a trophy (sneak down to the trophy shop and get one done up )
  3. Very cute, good to see you are all getting along in a big happy family
  4. It has gone insanely fast, and its been great watching it go insanely fast for you. Cheers for updating this for us, sounds like your plan is coming together great and it wont be long now Good luck
  5. In the nicest possible way
  6. I did the 7-8 hour trip from Kal to Perth with my boy plenty of times, the hardest part was getting him to shutup for a minute. Had his cage on the front seat and like others described and he sat at the front eyes dilating using all his vocabulary over and over and over. Rattling cage will be the last of your worries I have photos somewhere. Are there any border checks you have to do with him?
  7. I'm in trouble now....
  8. Is that a custard baby? Looks a great way to spend the afternoon. I was working... also a great way to spend the afternoon
  9. They look terrific Karen. The yellows remind me of Ken with the pink beard they have........not that Kens beard is pink, just the beard part
  10. I also just took 6 young 6 months and younger to the pet shop. I have slowly been thinning the numbers down over the last few months. I did this so young as they were all male bar 1- I have enough males in those varieties and much better specimens. I am sick of keeping so many males. The 1 female- I have her sisters and am happy with how they have turned out, she was a bit smaller and although could have matured and grown a bit more I have no need for another cinnamon female with her bloodlines. Although I did have a grey cock in the cage on the way to the shop and boy did he look great, I nearly took him back home. I chose him to go over another grey cock that was alot better than him. All the way thinking "I hope I caught the right one". I am still "playing" and learning as such, I get to visit some breeders when I come to Perth. Havent managed to bench anything yet

This pair produced my blue chick so fingers crossed again, and the cock is split cinnamon I have a few cin bubs hatch. 1 chick died hatching which I am kicking myself for as I saw it had started and didnt want to interfere but it hadnt arrived the next morning This pair one foster and one of their own, another 1 or 2 to hatch hopefully 1 Foster baby and hopefuly theirs due to hatch soon 2 Eggs so far, not sure if fertile yet Threw out eggs, blocked hole and trying again. If nothing I will seperate for a bit and try with other partners later down the track. It is her not him, I think she is just a hard nut to crack and also a grumpy maiden well thats it for now, when the chicks start feathering I'll take some more
  12. Good luck with the start of the breeding. I love the pairing up bit, you think and look and think, ..... then change your mind lol Wanted to let you know the big greygreen fella you gave me has 1 hatch, 1 foster and another 1 or 2 to come He is a dag Fingers crossed Thankyou And if the pied fella stops bonking the perch and steps up he will be too. He has a tough one though, might give him an easier girl next time.
  13. Lovely little chickies there :sadsorry:
  14. Bit late (like usual!) the first mop I saw would have been in mid 1980's. It being quite unusual and my being young it stuck in my head, actually I think I may have seen a couple in those years. Be interesting to know how far back they were popping up.
  15. I like you Nat.... Lol, you sure know how to put words together, something I wish I could do better somedays. And I agree, this world is turning into one of paperwork, taxes and paperwork for taxes (or lic's) I dont know whether you would be or against my line of work but I'm out there, doing it and I reckon I was born to do it too... and enjoying it
  16. Depending on its age it will need artificial heating- heat lamp/brooder.
  17. What sort of distance are you looking at running her over? Sounds like a good run for her, the 1000m squibs would have given your horse a good run for an intro. Slow jumping is easily fixed How long before you nominate again?
  18. 4th mate, I didnt see the run (only just read this) did she run well? Durrant has her hey? Shouldnt go to wrong with him. That last race had some high paying horses in it. Would have been worth a few $$ on any of them

Cheers all, stock owners are stock losers hey. Always the bloody good ones though Thanks Dean I have been locking her out a fair bit. I thought she had stopped at 3 empty, but has layed another today. I will pull the 3 out and maybe foster the 1 out and keep it shut tomorrow and let her start again. Whether it be her or the fact the cock bird mates the perch while chatting to her instead of getting his leg over lol I was working today so tomorrow will be "Bird day". I have a cock bird I may out with her if nothing happens this time- a very pushy 'knows what he's doing' cock bird

Well yesterday I went outside very early (last 2 days have been freezing here- for summer) and saw my little blue on the ground, she got up and I noticed her leg had been bitten badly/broken. Short of putting her down straight away I thought I would see if she would pull through, as I have another hen that broke hers at the same age and healed up okay. She was very fluffed and had spent the night on the concrete floor. I didnt have much hope as the cold and shock had affected her alot, along with the injury. She hasnt made it unfortunately, her parents are sitting on more eggs and 2 chicks so heres hoping for another similar. I am quite peeved about it at the moment Rip little doll

Anyone see the news this morning? It was in the newspaper yesterday that Redlands council (se qld) is looking at banning pet birds due to the noise issues. I assume they think wild birds dont make noise. I cant see them getting this through for some reason Lol, apparently its mischief making councillors leaking this stuff says the mayor. Geez they know how to get everyone hackles up in a hurrry
