  1. Try photobucket.com. They'll let you edit size of pics online.
  2. I'll check with a source and see what they say. Actually, there's a form you can fill out and they should get back to you. https://www.islandnet.com/~aacc/trace.htm
  3. You ought to have a breeding register anyways. It's easy to misremember something. And that way you can give background info if you sell someone else a bird.
  4. There are lots of canary breeders in the club too. You know, if you're willing to pay the money for the bird, you might be able to travel to get one, or at least pay to have one shipped to you. That may offer you more choices. Another choice is to visit http://www.bfbsbirdclub.org/ (The Budgerigar and Foreign Bird Society) and see what they may suggest.

That's great that you're a member now. I love the avatar. (Laughing out loud) I'm not sure that you can't show in the higher divisions. Make sure you ask Julianne about it. She can tell you better than I can.
  6. There should be some other numbers on his band. Maybe if you let us know what they are, we can help work it out, or at least direct you to where you can find out.
  7. Actually.... he'll be 5. 2002-2007 If he was a late banding, he'll actually only be 4 until near the end of the year. Is there any way of contacting the breeder to find out an exact age?

Does your spider look like this? If so, it's a huntsman spider and they only eat insects and other invertebrates. I don't think they go after anything warm-blooded. I got the above image at: http://www.amonline.net.au/factSheets/huntsman_spiders.htm I would imagine having him around would keep the other insects away from your birds.
  9. How hard is it to breed headless chicks? :hap: Sorry, couldn't resist.
  10. okay, I've noticed this on many budgies and wondered how it works for the shows. I'm assuming that crossed wings are a fault in a show budgie? Our male does not have crossed wings, but our females do. I'm not planning on showing, but as we help out in our local show, it got me wondering.

It's only the Essex-Kent Cage Bird Society. Glad to hear you'll be coming to the show. Are you a member? My husband and I are, and we're also the webmasters for them.
  12. I think the flash lightened the cere alot! The cere is pretty much dark blue except for the spot of brown. I'll have to wait for a sunny day to get an accurate colour to show in the pics. What makes you think clearbody? I was thinking opaline myself so far.

Welcome to the forum Joey. I'm also in Southern Ontario. Which show are you going to be entering?
  14. Lucky may be female I guess. The cere is just such a dark blue though. At any rate, I've taken a few more pics of him/her. I suspect that there is English budgie in Lucky as it's such a large bird, and has been banded. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c397/lis...kyDec312006.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c397/lis...Dec312006-2.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c397/lis...c312006face.jpg
  15. We'll do our best. I feel bad cause he's moulting really bad right now (as you can see) and there's noone to help him scratch the itch.
  16. Well.. we got a call from a friend who said his sister was getting rid of her budgie. Guess they didn't want it anymore and it's friend had died quite a while back. He was brought to us in a travel cage and we were given the last of the bird stuff with it. I'm glad we had a spare cage. The friend who brought it to us seems to think he's 5-6 years old. He's close banded and I'm pretty sure I saw 03 on it. The seed we were given was mainly husks and looked to be poor quality, so we just chucked all the food away. I put in a few extra toys we had around. He's found his new seed and has been eating it. I'm sure he's male. Here's his first picture while here. I'll see what I can do to get a few more tomorrow when it's lighter out. His name is Lucky. I don't know if that was his name before or not, but my friend said that it was considering all he'd been through already. My daughter has already claimed him as hers, and since she heard him get called Lucky... well that's his name. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c397/lis...ayDec302006.jpg
  17. Thanks everyone for the replies. I have noticed she's alot more defensive of the food dishes, and I've noticed that the last few times I've changed the paper on the bottom of the cage, that there's one specific spot that's been chewed. I didn't expect the budgies to go after the paper like they (she?) did. I know the finches will to add to their nest. Didn't look like any had been eaten, just destroyed and nibbled on. So... just a matter of waiting to see the change. Thanks!
  18. That sounds like the colour of Tango's cere too. That's what made me wonder.
  19. I meant to the breeding condition crusty brown. Sorry I wasn't more specific.
  20. okay, I've got a question. I've tried searching for the answer but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. Tango is a dilute green spangle. She's approximately 11 months old now and I have yet to see her cere change colour. This got me wondering... Do dilute females have ceres that change colour and if so, when should I expect it to change?
  21. Just thought I'd do a little update. Tango and Mango have lots of new toys, as I won a big board full of them at our local bird club. There are so many I can only put a few in at a time. They both have a favourite toy. One is a large ring, with lots of string underneath with blocks on it. They like to pull those 'ropes' up to the branch perch and pick at it. The other toy is a mishmash of plastic type threads poking out all over. They both love this one. They mostly get along quite well. Mango is the noisier one of the pair, though Tango can get quite vocal as well when she's annoyed with Mango. I haven't seen Mango's cere change colour yet. She's around 9-10 months. I have no idea if that's normal. They are both moulting up a storm! I have never seen so many feathers all over the floor. Mango is losing some flight feathers as well. He's got one wing 'shorter' than the other now that some feathers are gone. Tango's feathers are filling in from the clip that she had at Kirby's ages ago. Mango is now bigger than Tango. She used to be bigger than him when he first arrived. She still bosses him around though. (Laughing out loud) :hap:

I suspect that if the smoke didn't get them, the heat would, even with water cooling down the area. Fires burn very hot, and a brushfire affects a large area so the heat would be very intense.
  23. I like her! Very pretty bird.
  24. I think he's asking if the female would abandon or get tired of the eggs after a month of sitting on them. He wants to know if can remove the eggs now.
