  1. I like it too!
  2. Yeah... 4 of the 6 budgies I now have actually came from Nathan. My original one... Tango. Then the other 3 - Ariel, Chico, and Oscar. We had by then gotten Tango a buddy, called of course, Mango. After that we were given a budgie - Lucky. I need to figure out a way to get some good pics of them.
  3. Thank you all for responding with the possibilities. I'm not counting my chicks before they hatch (if they even do). I haven't candled any of the eggs. I don't want to disturb Lucky too much in case she decides me poking about in her nest box was too much to deal with. So.... I'll keep peeking every day and hopefully after another week or so, we'll know if any are good.
  4. Egg 5 was in the nest box yesterday. Does anyone have any idea of possible outcomes of the 2 parent birds in question? Female - Green Opaline Clearbody. Male - opaline violet sky spangle
  5. Egg #4 was in the nest box when I checked this morning. I'm using this thread to keep track of things as well. Makes things easier.
  6. Egg number 3 arrived yesterday or last night sometime as it was there when I checked around 9:30. So, things are looking good. She's sitting well, except for when I go in the birdroom. :dbb1:
  7. I'll dig up some pics of the parents. Lucky is actually not in my sig. That's Tango. Lucky Mango Note he's still with Tango in that shot. I really need to upload some newer photos.
  8. It's been a while since I posted. So... the story so far.... Tango and Mango were together but mainly just tolerated each other. So, in the interest of peace and harmony, I exchanged Tango for Lucky. Mango was in love, but it's been hard to tell with Lucky. She wasn't too sure of him at first since she'd been an only budgie for quite a while. He's always flirting with her. So, for the news.... Two days ago I discovered that Lucky laid an egg. Today there's egg #2. I totally forgot to mark the eggs so I could keep an eye on if things take too long. Oh well, guess I'll try to remember to mark them if this ever happens again. If these eggs are fertile, and the parent birds take good care of them, it'll be a surprise as to what colours we'll get as we don't have a full history of Lucky. As far as I can tell, she's a Green Opaline Clearbody. Mango is an opaline violet sky spangle (we think). Obviously I don't know the full history of these birds, but as a generality, what sort of babies could I expect if things go well? I'm not counting on any budgie babies yet as I have no idea if these are even fertile.
  9. You'd see it in person. And on the feathers she drops. (Laughing out loud)
  10. Thanks for letting me get her. She's been a very interesting addition to all the other birds. She definitely has an attitude and will most likely be the one that you hear complaining (if you hear any (Laughing out loud)). She's definitely the boss. The next thing will be to hope for breeding one day. I'm not in any hurry as we're going away for most of June. Yes.... I have someone coming in to take care of the animals..
  11. Well. here's the best I could get. I took this on Saturday I believe.
  12. She's actually from one of the bird club members who no longer breeds budgies. I got her in a roundabout way through a friend that lives in Windsor.
  13. No, I know I didn't talk to you. There was a lot of people there. Do you have pics of the brother?
  14. I'll try for one, but she never did like the camera and tends to shy away and hide behind whatever she can.
  15. It's been awhile so it's time for an update. We've moved. We finally got at least the budgies at the new house with us. We're still in the process of moving the finches and the fish. So, I'm posting some pics of the budgies in their new house. Lucky - she's going through the moult from h*ll right now. She's in condition as well. Here's Tango (green) and Mango (blue) Kirby, notice her cere??? Nothing going on between Tango and Mango though. I've never noticed any breeding behaviour. But at least I know for sure that she's getting old enough soon.
  16. old? (Laughing out loud) She's not old! She's doing well and the boss of the cage. Hopefully I can get her moved to our new house this weekend. It's a pain going back all the time to the old house to feed the animals. :fear :ausb: I'll try to get new pics after they're all moved. Joey, it was nice to meet you at the Christmas party for the club. I thought you were pretty tempted by that budgie on the auction table.

Wish I could help out.... am a bit surprised that noone else has tried answering this though.

  19. Joey is in Canada though. Decent birds cost $30, and those are just regular budgies. I have no idea on how much 'show type' budgies cost here.
  20. I can't see why not. Go for it.
  21. A weiro is the name we call a tiel here in Western Australia ......also spelled Weero. I have to know... why? Where did that name come from? It's nothing like cockatiel
  22. Took some pics tonight. Just sharing Tango Tango and Mango Tango and Mango getting along The new budgie Lucky backshot front view upside down

Grow it outside! We've had millet start growing outside from blown seed. We ended up pulling it out because it started growing in a bad spot for the garden. :dbb1:
  24. That's different to our show. Mind you, it's an all bird show and not just a budgie show. You don't have to be the breeder of the bird, and you also don't have to have the bird banded. If the bird is unbanded it just goes into a flighted category as the age is unknown. The birds that are shown tend to be the English show birds though. I have no idea on how to judge whether or not the budgies at our show are in the same class as are shown in budgie specific shows. It's interesting to see how things differ from place to place.
