    She's gorgeous!
  3. I've got a nice hen who will be waiting for him when he gets out of quarantine. I've got a nice big white lacewing hen too but she is too young yet (7 months). This girl is a little small but is a very good breeder - 6 fledged babies in her first clutch!
  4. It is really scary people! There are members on parrot forums out there who have ESP & possess Mind Control Powers!!! I mean, how else can be explained me coming home with 2 new budgies after I'd just sold 20?!!! It is Pollyparrot!!! (see my post in Rescues) Run for your lives!!! She knows what I look like & now I have no hope!!!! The girl: The boy - I have been after a lacewing cock for soooo long!!:
  5. A few hours after these photo's were taken Baby 1 fledged and was sitting next to daddy on the upper level perch. Baby 1 - 52grams weighed today: Baby 2 - 49 grams weighed today: Baby 3 - 51 grams weighed today: Group Cuddle:
  6. She is one of the prettiest birds I have ever seen!
  7. They are fine. http://gardenhobbies.com/vegetables/peas.html

My male budgies left the zebs alone but the females used to carry the zubs around by the feathers on their backs. Amusing to watch from my point of view - not from the poor finches'. Needless to say the zebs were removed and placed into a different cage - which they all escaped from 3 weeks later!! Someone forgot to close the door all the way.
  9. I scrub my branches with NappySan & then thoroughly rinse. For added protection boil the kettle & pour the boiled water over them & dry in the sun.
  10. Australian natives are okay - expecially bottlebrushes - if you give the flowers (before the lorikeets get to them) the budgies will be able to rip the flowers apart & get to the nectar. I, like the other Karen (Bubbles) handle my babies young - I have never had a hen abandon chicks due to my handling as I also handled them when they were little.
  11. Just now read this. How very upsetting. How can anyone with such low intelligence survive? People with brains would never contemplate doing that.
  12. Big BEAR HUGS to Ken and yourself Karen. Such a tragedy to happen to such great people. Please let Ken know that we are all standing beside him in his grief & the hands he feels on his shoulder are ours.
  13. Hiya & welcome to the absolute BEST budgie site on the web! no other budgie forum has the combination of intelligence, experience, maturity & wonderful helpful people that this one does. The people & staff here know their stuff & will really help you out. I have been a member here for just over a year now and this is the only budgie site that I take seriously as the people have no other agenda other than trying to share their knowledge. Don't worry if your questions may seem silly to you - the people on this budgie forum will not make you feel dumb & they will not abuse you for knowledge you don't have. We all had to start somewhere when first starting to breed budgies - you are luckier than alot of us as you have this wonderful site to help you out.
  14. My mum met the babies today & it quite taken with the little blue baby. She was crawling all over mum & attempting to get into trouble  yep! she has Boris' personality all right! I don't know what to do now. I want to keep the Boss line (self tamers) going but I also want Boris back as I miss her to bits (Roger's mating with inanimate objects is tiresome). But now Boris really loves Big Grey & her bites are becoming harder. I know she will calm down again once inside (Squirt did) but mum & I also love the little blue baby. I guess I'll just wait and see.
  15. I must say that my birds tend to breed hens over cocks at a rate of about 3 to 1. I always seem to be trying to sell excess hens!
  16. Okay! I was so excited when I checked on Boris' babies today as I got a couple of unexpected surprises! I really wanted to post the pics straight away but I've had a busy day! Sorry, but I didn't snap Boris today - she was busy attacking the silverbeet I used to distract her! :(Laughing out loud): Anyhoo! Are you ready? Are you really ready?? Voila! The 3 bubbies: Isn't their colours a surprise??? Baby 3 is my favourite S/he's got brown/grayish wing markings & is very adventurous & curious - and sweet! :hap: This is baby 2, she is a very pretty green & cinnamon: This is the eldest baby, very quiet & she looks just like mum did at this age: Another group shot to finish with! :(Laughing out loud):
  17. I haven't disturbed them since Sunday - Boris does glare at me quite often & everytime I remove the nest box from the wall Big Gray jumps on top to give his 2 cents worth. The babies are at the stage where everytime I open the door they start abusing me - sometimes I'm not even going to their cage! I think the grey baby has a pied spot. Should know more when I take the next photo's - if I get time! Next weekend & up to the holiday 12-16 August is my Spring cleaning & I have alot of preparation to do!
  18. Sunday 30-7-2006 What do you want? I said "What do you want??" Oi! Get that thing outta my beak!! I finally got past Boris & snapped a couple of quick shots. Sorry didn't get them on earlier - I've got the flu and just couldn't be bothered!
  19. Thanks for that Jen! Boris' line is: father, grandfather & great grandfather yellow/green recessive pied. mother, grandmother, great grandmother lutino. Big Gray is a bought bird so the only thing I know is what he's bred before - to a lutino hen (history unknown): yellow faced greys & normal greens.
  20. I don't think they will all be the same colour, the biggest baby has different skin to the others (don't know if that really means anything (Laughing out loud)!). We will know more in a week or two I guess - unless one of the genetics knowledgable people can tell from the pictures?
  21. Is a hamster like a guinea pig? The wheel is a basic mouse wheel. Roger is only the 2nd house budgie who has used it for anything other than sleeping in! I was just trying to find different ways of keeping them entertained. The aviary birds have 2 larger versions - most of the time they use it as a bed. I bred him from a dominant pied male I bought at the Margate bird show, to a lutino hen. It was too quiet inside without a budgie for company. I might just do that Lin! :(Laughing out loud): Embarrasing news. Roger has entered puberty. He has taken to humping: 1st his green cuddle mate (which I removed last week) and for the past couple of days he has been humping his pink calcium bell (seen in video).
  22. I love the strange spots budgies get into to breed!
  23. First up a quick video of the babies! http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...orissBabies.flv Big Gray - I couldn't get past without taking a picture of him! Can you guess what he'd just been eating? Boris, even though she looks tired, she still looks so proud! More of the babies.
  24. I didn't record it at high speed - Roger actually does run in his wheel that fast! Sometimes he runs so fast he falls out! View from the front. http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...nt=P7150009.flv
  25. That he does Lin! His wheel squeak is not as annoying as Boris playing with her bottle top 4+ hours everyday! That wheel I got from The Warehouse for 2 or 3 dollars. In the pet stores they were up to $12!!
