  1. I don't have grass! but we pruned our parsley last weekend which is the closest thing I can think of! When was the last time you had to dash from the bathroom dripping wet and starkers because you forgot your towel!? (I had to do this yesterday!)
  2. yesterday... yay for superglue! When was the last time you cooked home-made pizza/hamburgers etc (the kind of stuff most would eat out for fast food?!)
  3. I don't know what they are... the label at the nursery said "Potted Colour"!!! I don't think that would be the botanical name...
  4. WATER!
  5. hehe... I can't imagine having a deer wandering in and eating the plants in our yard! What a funny mental image! Then again I guess it is as peculiar a mental image as having echindnas munching on our mulch would be for you Elly!? (that's a problem my mum and dad have!) Here are some of the flowers in our little planter box on our apartment balcony:

  7. Here's mine... I have DEFINITELY learnt a lot since joining! Rose's first post
  8. I trained my Casper when he was about 12 months old and just began by several times a day putting my hand in his cage and doing "stuff" - under the guise of changing water, seeds, rearranging toys etc. Obviously there wasn't enough that needed to be done three times a day, but he learnt that my hand is helpful adn does nice htings for him, so he became less distrustful of it. I gradually began doing stuff closer to him in his cage, and eventually would rest my finger in front of him while he was onhis perch. I'd just raise it gently to touch his tummy and he'd step up. At that stage I just let him sit there, not moving him around or anything. Then gradually as he got more confident, I'd move my hand around the cage while he was on my finger. Eventually he was happy enough to sit on my finger and let me bring him out just past the door of his cage. It took a while before he'd come out further than that, but I built a little playgym on top of his cage and would just leave the door open so he could come out of his own accord. Once he was coming out on his own, i continued our stepping-up "training" on his outdoor perch. Eventually he was quite tame and let me get him on his finger wheneve I needed him to. He never got to letting me get a hold of him though... fingers only!... snow pea sprouts always worked well as a bribe/reward too!
  9. Hehe! Casper was never interested in my ear... it obviously wasn't shiny enough... he preferred my earrings! Yeah... It took a long time before I wanted another budgie after he went. But once I was ready my husband bought me Smokey for my birthday. Smokey is so different to Casper (obviously he's a different colour!, but personality-wise mainly) which is really great because it means I can rememeber Casper and not feel like I've "replaced" him, just moved on. And as I got Smokey not long after we were married, it helped the moving-on as well... new stage of my life, new budgie... it all felt right. RIP Casper
  10. Casper used to do it too... usually when he was on my shoulder and feeling sleepy... he'd jsut sit and nobble on my earring making those little cooing noises.
