  1. Gotcha...........doesnt alter the fact that the chicks are definitely dominant pieds. Are you sure Mum is def recessive pied ? The albino can mask dom pied too you know
  2. Wow !! How old now Liv ?
  3. Babies look to be dominant pied not recessives. Dad appears to be a spangle dom pied to me in these photos............ and this baby is also spangle dom pied.
  4. Photos on BBC are allowed to be 480 by 640 which is especially handy when our eyes get older and its harder to see anything from tiny tiny pictures
  5. Candle eggs at 5-6 days. If cock was sick the eggs may not be fertile anyway.
  6. If your question is.......can she cope ? Yes she can........assuming she isnt sick as well. Renee's advice is sound about finding out why the cock died......however risk of infection would be a very good reason NOT to transfer eggs to another nest.
  7. How do you figure split for blue Splat ?
  8. Congratulations Splat. Do you have a possible placement yet with a vet ? I found that the hardest thing when I was a vet nurse........getting in the door at a vets.
  9. Bullseye spots are the ideal sought after kind of spot that spangle breeders aim for on the show bench. If you imagine a full black spot on a budgies face, and remove all the black except the outer outline of the spot, then that is a bullseye spot.
  10. Either parent can be split for recessive pied. Its a recessive gene and not sex linked.....so can come from either mum or dad. The half nephew breeding would be fine assuming there is no genetic faults that would come out.
  11. You have some gorgeous babies
  12. Did you get the chance to buy any? He bought five clearwings I think. Its in his toowoomba topic.
  13. She is not a lightly marked clearfflight pied at all. She is a normal, possibly split for recessive pied.
  14. Nestfeather is a baby budgie, out of the nest and old enough to crack seed and perch but not having gone through its first moult.
  15. Three to four week olds look almost like adults and you putting the chick back in while the Mum was in the box may have made her think it was another budgie. She may have also been trying to start another clutch. The three newly hatched chicks you said were squashed.........all dead chicks look flattened and squashed when they are dead but it doesnt mean they died from being squashed at all. Chances are they were either not fed or not kept warm through the night.
  16. You are good with names
  17. I may have a picture of that bird on my other pc Nubbly
  18. Funny thing.......she was nasty to her siblings in the nestbox and has been sweet as since she has been out
  19. Nasty is one of Omelettes babies and she seems to be turning out okay. Here she is As a baby and NASTY Now aged nearly four months old.
  20. I am glad you didnt lose them all and very happy your last chick is recovering. Even in breeder cages some parents can attack their own chicks.
  21. Great news about the chicks Dave....especially the progeny of Dumber.
  22. Send a PM to member Libby who should be able to help click here >>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showuser=3634
  23. Moved into off topic. There is a list of members in off topic who breed other birds.
  24. Clear cere shot front on, natural light please. Pictures down again ?
  25. I believe two weeks from discovery at around 10 days to 2 weeks of age to four weeks of age roughly.
