  1. That is really cool :emoticon112: I dont understand about the sand getting wet thing though. Any wetness in a cage can cause coccidiosis when mixed with droppings........whether its sand or paper. You really need for the cage area to NOT get wet at all.
  2. Coco was plucked in the nest as a youngster. The parent plucked his wing butts and what you see now is evident of that early damage to his feather follicles.
  3. Budgerigar Council of Victoria....breeders details KA6 ? the something before the 7 would be a symbol meaning the bird is an 07 bird and birds number is 062
  4. Yes we did its able to be walked on
  5. You had your chance Shannon but you spent all your money
  6. There seems to be pretty good fertility at your place Dave...you must be doing plenty of things right
  7. Yes...I meant cannot
  8. Hope its a blessing beautiful! the slabs looking fully sick ! when doesit finish drying? They said I can walk on it tomorrow. A lot of people told me we could do it ourselves, but I risked it looking like a dogs breakfast if we tried. Its was a job best left to the professionals.
  9. Aside from what Davehas told you, hulled oats is a fattening seed and best kept for an occasional treat. Show budgiues get it in their soaked seed when breeding though.
  10. There is some interesting thing written in an article by Peter Bergman. I dont know if it applies here but I think a lot of the Peter Bergman articles are very well written. Not all breeders agree that the Yellowface genes are alleles of Blue. Some breeders claim that they have paired Green birds to Blues and produced Greens, Yellowfaces, and Blues from the one pair. If the Yellowface genes are alleles of Blue this result should not be possible. However,it should be pointed out that in the instances I am aware of where it had been claimed that a Green to Blue pairing yielded Greens, Blues, and Yellowfaces in the nest, the Yellowfaces involved were Goldenfaces. That in itself suggests the Green birds in the pairings may not have been true Greens at all but heavily pigmented Goldenfaces. http://www.birdhobbyist.com/parrotcolour/peter/yface01.html
  11. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you Dean
  12. Chances are high that your red eyed baby from the recessives is lutino HOWEVER.......recessive also produce PLUM EYED babies which can be mistaken for red eyed. If its actually plum eyed it is just reinforcing the fact the baby is recessive pied, but if actually red RED it is ino. Check that topic I gave you the link to about red, plum and black eyes. I have been breeding budgies since 2004.
  13. Hope its a blessing
  14. I was just checking my nestboxes also and have discovered a fifth chick hatched and it too has red eyes. It will be a lutino
  15. Your baby will be a white albino
  16. The rest is easy I am a very happy girl Doesnt take the doves long to trit trot across the wet concrete
  17. It will be lutino or albino. What colours and types are the parents ?
  18. Very good method
  19. Yes.......Dad is most likely split for ino. Check this out http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....c=23215&hl=
  20. Its a dominance thing but can get out of hand. Some parents can attack the babies they see as being too needy if the parents are focussed on beginning another round of egglaying. Just watch. Are you colony breeding or cabinet breeding ?
  21. The guys are here to lay the slab so its finally happening
  22. Once the chick is active and warm and fed you should be fine to put it under a hen for ongoing raising. Good you discovered it in time
