  1. Very nice babies Shannon. How many babies do you have right now ?
  2. Last clutch I think she raised five and two were fostered into the greywing nest. Omelette can cope well but her partner, the grey green spangle was not the best at feeding the babies. Mostly Omelette fed the babies.
  3. I'm looking forward to seeing all these babies on perches Shannon.
  4. Babies looking after babies. The little green baby had to come out of iots nestbox earlier due to Mum laying the next round....the blue baby has taken it under its wing so to speak and makes sure its gets fed.
  5. Some of Omelette's babies from the last clutch...
  6. She has our name on her... You babies are amazing Kaz! You are definitely doing something right If she is a lacewing as per the Gary Armstyrong hen and split lacewing cock of Rob Dunstan, the Gary Armstrong said he wants her. He is getting into lacewings.
  7. Yes....as long as incubation hasnt begun it will keep well for a week or more.
  8. All chicks recovered.... Omelette's grand daughter
  9. Yeah :camera: The way I see it....it safe from getting wrecked by the babies still in the nest, and lessens the chance that the Mum will chase her babies out of the nestbox. Eggs as we know stay in limbo until incubated so the egg is safe where it is
  10. I agree........its very attractive in a budgie :camera: Look what I found when I checked the nest earlier  So I put it outside for safe keeping
  11. Really good vents Dave....do they go all the way through to the inside as far as fitting ? How hard was it to fit them ? What size are they ? As you know I will be fitting some up the perching end of my new flights, but I am still toying with ideas of what kind at this stage. PS just dropped a steel beam on my foot
  12. Hi

Your pine shavings do look a little big and springy. Either crush it up so the shavings are smaller or use plain brand porridge oats for nesting materials.
  13. I agree with Dave...the log will cause a problem. AND.......Be very sure you have no birds under 12 months in an aviary with anything at all that resembles a nesting site
  14. What makes you think that is a dominant pied cock ? More photos please ?
  15. Nothing to see right now. The slab is a building site covered with building materials.
  16. You will most likely have all blue spangles.
  17. I have done most of the external footings ready for the external cladding of colourbond. I am today doing some of the metal channels down at the slab level ready for the cladding. I have a few days next week designated for further work with assistance from another BBC forum member. End of next week should see birds in the new space. Ken had to dismantle the existing shed area at the far right of the new flights, so I had to wait for him to do that.
  18. Are they haveing a dance partyin the nest if theyare damageing the eggs. No..........but the kitty litter I had , had a lot of sharp bits in it. Weird..............I distinctly recall seeing you with a carload of ZEOLITE and you saying you werent using kitty litter anymore.
  19. Green is always dominant so unless the cock is split for blue your results will all be green based birds.
  20. I gave up on the kitty litter and dont use it in nests anymore. It damaged eggs and dried things out a little too much.
  21. I agree with Dave. She will need close monitoring and may need to have her eggs fostered and she may need to retire from breeding for this season till she is well again. Watch her and guage the situation.
  22. I like the skyblue cinnamon but it bites
  23. Great results
