  1. The hobble you are using is heavier than she is to a degree making her out of balance. Try something lighter...........and up past her knees.
  2. I would have had another greywing chick but it had opened its egg the wrong way around and died before it managed to flip the lid of the egg.
  3. Deb try wearing a fake Dave McMinn beard when tending to his "old birds" and play tape recordings of Daves voice to make them feel at home
  4. I lied, I was confused, I was leading you astray....go back to your original way of thinking............
  5. I think in most cases those breeders remove the hen for the rest she will have before being put back in with the same cock once he is done raising the chicks.
  6. I will take these two please Dave When I first saw these pieds in the nestbox, I did think of you kaz, but they are growing on me You hate Dommie Pieds Dave ..........remember ?? Repeat after me ...... I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place I hate Dommie Pieds.............Kaz loves em...they are going to Kazs place
  7. Ken is good at that I am painting all the metal today.I decided on how to do the front opening to the aviary so I could open it up for breezes in summer and close it for winter. I bought a large aluminium sliding window that will go in the front ( have to source some smaller ones for the back ) .............will mesh the side that opens. You were very valuable as well on the day Renee so many thanks. Hows Tony's cut finger ?
  8. I was going to retire her BUT..........her original breeder has a habit of pulling hens out of nestboxes at chicks aged 2 weeks and lets the cocks finish raising the chicks. I believe the hens are then conditioned to not proceeding past the two week old stage. The hens breeder said to put her down for another round and his belief is she wanted them out of the nestbox for another round. I may try that but I will be watching her very closely if I do.
  9. I will take these two please Dave
  10. Both babies are from nests where dad is skyblue greywing and mum is green split blue so fingers crossed See that is good news. It is of course personal preference that I think blue greywings look better than green greywings. Ultimately, it is about breeding the best greywing. The contrasting colour on a blue greywing is very appealing
  11. Hanging out for photos Dave :rip:
  12. Both babies are from nests where dad is skyblue greywing and mum is green split blue so fingers crossed :rip:
  13. You can still get a pied baby, and you can even get cinnamon pieds :rip: Time will tell.
  14. How would i get cinnamon from a spangle and dom pied? Dad is carrying cinnamon in a split form and the chick will be a female :rip:
  15. Two other greywing nests................... ONE and the other
  16. It really depends on if the feather follicles were damaged and only time will tell with that.
  17. I would say it all depends on how fresh and clean it was in the first place and whether or not the birds used to to perch on and poop on :rip: I most likely wouldnt use it if it got wet myself, but then I am not a fan of cuttlefish :rip:
  18. Still looks like a building site :rip:
  19. Fledged chicks chick one chick two
  20. Buy some rechargables and a charging unit :rip:
  21. Above the knees lets them make use of their feet to get around.
  22. Try fitting the box high up in the cage even if you have to cut a couple of bars of the cage. Make the entrance hidden from front view of the cage.
  23. Did you follow this advice exactly as I said it ? and why did you put the nestbox INSIDE the cage ? They are best fitted externally with entry from within.
