Wild Mice In The Avairy
Mice going through budgies food and water sources will make the budgies sick and die....so the need to fix this is urgent !! Put all food sources up on pedestal platforms that mice cannot get up onto. Nothing they can gain a foothold on. No food dishes hanging off the mesh because mice can crawl up the wire onto it. Got some bait boxes for poison and put them around outside the aviary...mice can get into the baitboxes but other things cannot. If you are feeding off floor level change it all...........thats bad news. Soil floors in aviary ? or concrete ? Soil floors will mean they have a tunnel system in there and nests. If it was me I would take my dogs in on a leash and let them source the mice and kill, but thats me and I can do that. More information needed.

A couple of posts above you should take notice of veterinary advice from Chrysocome.........just because you think you have had no trouble right now doesnt mean there arent things going on you havent noticed yet.

Poor Baby Dies
Bad things happen in breeding budgies. I lost my favourite baby in the kindie cage a skyviolet cinnamon.......partly due to the fact I was so so busy and didnt notice he wasnt eating as well as he should have been. I saw him eating but apparently he wasnt eating well enough.

Poor Baby Dies
Chin up Babe. Things are obviously getting you down. Take some time out for yourself....anything that makes you feel good for awhile. You need to start thinking of your glass as half full not half empty. Biggest hugs If all else fails....move to W.A.

Poor Baby Dies
I am sorry mate......there's nothing easy about breeding budgies is there ? especially when you have hopes for certain nests. PS sponge method you have to be sure the holes allow circulation...slits wont work...has to be holes.

Help With Mutations
Well Finnie, I would safely assume that breeder is NOT one you should be going back to as she seems to know very little and seems also to have a way of bending the truth to effect a sale PS rosy bourkes are quiet natured birds and best not caged with or bothered by budgies....they wouldnt be attacking the budgies. Some people have an excuse for everything like that breeder

I Have A Cheeping Egg!
Good news. By tonights feeding or later, if you put your ear to the nestbox I am sure you will hear tiny baby squeaks.

My Aviary....start To Finish
Not serious at all! Despite being quite deep it had completely closed over when we took the band aid off yesterday  Is it very tricky to do? Meshing is a pain........even Cec said the other day he hated that part of the job. Its slow and tedious and cutting the mesh gives you blisters on all your fingers. Yes, it does! I thought it was just me, holding the cutters to tightly. I went out and bought a better quality pair of wire cutters today hoping for less blisters

Help With Mutations
I agree with Neville. Re the feathers....I think he was from a nest where the chicks were plucked and not damage from others in the cage. He and the siblings most likely have all been plucked in the nestbox as wingbutts are mostly where the damage occurs. and when feather follicles on wing butts are damaged they look like your boy does now. If crowded in a cage the injuries are mostly pecks to head and top of cere and bloodied toes from biting at the bird next to them. At this stage the feathers may not grow in properly in the case of a nestbox plucked baby.
