  4. Hopefully she isnt ready to breed again as it is too soon. The behaviour you described doesnt even sound like it means anything like wanting to breed again. Does she do this when she is with her partner ....maybe to ellicit a feed me response ?
  5. **KAZ** replied to Annie82's topic in New to BBC

  6. Will candle later........hen has only just begun to sit....and candling torch needs batteries **UPDATE** Candled eggs with another torch ( not as good ) and two showing fertile so far. Hen seemed to be trying to lay another egg too.
  7. I look forward to your pictures. There is no way to insert pictures without something like photobucket.
  8. Dont worry.........all will be fine. It isnt too large an age gap.
  9. Gotcha I was wondering if the other liquid calcium supplement that you trialled was the one in use, but it seems it happened over calcivet use too. I recall the chicks,,,,the leg bones had complete seperation between "knees" and hips and a great deal of redness and inflamation reminiscent of severe arthritic inflammation. I have had two in nests over some years the same and I euthenased them also. I, too, wish we had taken a photo and documented the chicks.
  10. I have one dom pied I bred, and one baby I bought recently, and your pieds which should be in my Xmas stocking
  11. More babies......... greywing babies another greywing chick
  12. Renee.............when you were using that other calcium source before ( not the calcivet ) was that when you had the issues with the deformed legs or not ? Just wondering.
  13. Thanks Dave You should see all my wounds.....I tried taking the side of my thumb today...the same thumb I put the angle grinder through a week ago and the same thumb I cut the knuckle of a few days ago
  14. Where does she come from Kaz? Did you get her off Hans? No, she is a Cec bred hen. Depends on how good a mother is with her eggs, and if they are all fertile, by the time the earlier chicks hatch they can foul the other eggs, so you try and foster out some eggs in larger clutches. I prefer to foster chicks than eggs.
  15. It's taking far too long...........I will be as happy as a pig in a mud puddle once I put the birds in there
  16. Most meshing is finshed all except window meshing and front which will have to be the last thing. We are currently working on the popout/suspended section right now. Perching is down there ready to go. The whole perching rack will be hinged at the top and secured at bottom with slide bolts, so it can be dropped against the wall by sliding back the slide bolts, ............and that will mean I can clean the floor under the perches easily and clean perches themselves and replace any perches in the future that get eaten through. We found some great powdercoated steel brackets thrown out front of a house for rubbish removal and we are recycling them for the supports for the popout section
  17. I have paired up Big Blue ( as Ken likes to call him and King Dik as I like to call him ) with a well bred grey hen. Here is Big Blue aka K.D. and wife and together Hoping for good things for this pairing. We have eggs already

  23. Use the search function or our FAQ section. We have had many topics and discussions on french moult, easily found on this forum

  25. Are you absolutely sure the cock is OLIVE as many people get grey green and olive confused. If he is grey green not olive it changes the results already submitted.
