So, I have been very busy with both my leadlight work and preparing the hearse for display and sorting out props appropriate to the hearse for an "interesting "display. I may not be around much over the next few days due to both work commitments and the Hot Rod Show. But if anyone's interested I will take some photos. There is likely to be photos in hotrod magazines later on as well of this show, and not necessarily the hearse. My husband managed to buy a coffin and a full sized skeleton, anmd we have the usual spook type display pieces as well. Ken named the skeleton LURCH Tomorrow we set up the dislay and Saturday at 9 am the doors open to the public.

Babies in nestboxes pick and eat whats on the floor so I would not use sand.

Thank's for that, have added a bit more shavings to box so they all have a more solid footing. Keeping everything crossed, wont use inserts again.Will keep up calcium as added help. Robyn they now need something more solid under them, so may I suggest ( if you have any ) put an inch of natural claybased kitty litter in the box with the shavings on top.

Robyn, if you are using the makeup sponge method, cut away a lot of the excess sponge so they can manouvre better and stabilise so they dont tip over. Check distance between holes in sponge and also make sure the legs and feet get proper circulation as it can be restricted some with sponge if holes are too small.

I use nesting material all the time. Some mothers will remove if prior to egglaying, but once you have chicks you should start pputting it back in. At that point the mother is too busy to try removing it. The slippery base of the nest is most of that problem.

Well in a cage inside an aviary is near other birds. Quarantine is minimum 5 metres away and in another room.....seperate air space. Not near any other birds.
