  1. Woo HOO !!!! Brilliant You are one clever lady
  2. I recently saw a budgie breeding set up where the person was having trouble also. They had put the nestbox in a good position but access to it meant flying to the wire and scrambling in. Make sure the perches make access to the box easy enough for them to be in and out.
  3. You said you have nestboxes IN the cage. How much room is left in the cage ? As nestboxes are best fitted externally on a cage for space within the cage for mating behaviour and also for ease of checking nestbox for you once babies arrive.
  4. yeah...Thank goodness its a spare
  5. their babies and the other baby
  6. I am talking about opalines that these days have the black edges to their feathers looking like a combination of normal and opaline...where in the past opalines had no black melanin through the edges of the feathers. Re the photos of those chicks....I am waiting for more and better photos. My point was just to say originally that a DF coiuld possibly be carrying opaline also when earlier posts by others assumed it wasnt. http://s14.zetaboards.com/Metro_Club/topic/420920/1/?x=30
  7. I am afraid I dont have a great deal of faith in cuttlebones as a total source of calcium. My belief is the birds play with it more than ingest it. I would suggest she is too and that she isnt taking it in and in no danger of overdosing on the calcium. She is however using the cuttlebone as a source of something to be possessive over and bordering on a little obsessive compulsive. I would take it out for awhile and give her a chance to settle into a better emotional state that doesnt include being possessive over certain things in her cage. Yellow face ? Anything of that colour in the cage ?
  8. Maybe, maybe not. Are you aware that a lot of opaline spangles now are coming out with normal markings as well on the wings. If you mean the grey spangle in the photos..........higher up the wing is showing opaline markings. Here are some of my opaline spangles with normal wing markings too
  9. My question is................If df can mask opaline as well as anything else, then the df dad could also be an opaline and there by it changes the fact that all opaline babies would be hens.....because two opaline pparents could have all opaline chicks ......male and female ..............right ?My question is................If df can mask opaline as well as anything else, then the df dad could also be an opaline and there by it changes the fact that all opaline babies would be hens.....because two opaline parents could have all opaline chicks ......male and female ..............right ? 16. The steel framework for the popout suspended section is all done now. Its ready to wire up. Not too much to do 1. Finish end cladding colourbond under popout section. 2, finish hatchdoor to external fenceline from aviary. Hinges and latches to do, 3. Wire mesh sliding glass windows. 4, fill corrugated bumps with cement between slab and colourbond. 5. Finish fitting perching racks. 6. Add front to aviary including large sliding window. 7. scrub down wire with vinegar. 8. scrub and scrape and disinfect concrete floor and walls.
