  1. If you cant get one good one, get few and join them together. Also be careful as some parks spray for weeds and if you pick up a branch off the ground and its been sprayed
  2. Another website has cherry tree on the not safe list................. List of Plants & Branches Hazardous to Birds Cherry Tree -- bark, twigs, seeds, and leaves
  3. Get dad and you to go for a little drive and look for a good gum tree branch.

I used to have a very large carpet snake when I was 10
  5. I really dont know why people go on about white around nostrils. as its confusing to people .............its an overall white that you will see if female....just like on your other baby Lexi
  6. Maybe not..........found this on the net Cherry Some sources debate about cherry wood being bad to pet birds, for a lack of substantial confirmed cases - although confirmed cases of problems for a few dogs and horses is apparent. Some folks lean toward using cherry wood, but not the bark, under the premise that the chemicals are primarily in the cambium - layer under the bark. Do you know what that layer is? Do you see what I'm getting at here? When there are an abundance of sure safe woods, why use one that has bark with potential bad stuff in it? Suppose there are no confirmed cases of dead birds from cherry. If cherry turns out to be a subtle problem, would you want your bird to be the first confirmed case? I suspect there are cases not documented. There must be hundreds of birds dying each year due to real causes that we don't know about.
  7. Dude does look like a boy from here
  8. What a pretty little girl she is
  9. Packs of egg and biscuit is bought from pet stores or bird supply stores. It is ready mixed and dry. Polenta is ground corn and available at supermarkets. Budgie starter is made by Passwells and availble from pet stores or bird supply stores. Wheatgerm is bought in supermarkets. Calcivet is bought from pet stores or bird supply stores.
  10. The branch looks good. Go over it and cut a couple of bits off. It will be like a playgym for climbing around on more than anything. The string looks fine ...what are you using the string for anyway ? Is the branch from the list of safe wood ?
  11. 2 year old male. Was hand reared, has been a bit neglected lately as I haven't had the time, so with a bit of work he'd be tame again. He speaks a few words, and copies you when you whistle. $500 armadale
  12. Really nice photos Take a look at our competition area where we do Budgie of the Month photos..... you should enter. Your male is a double factor dominant pied. This girl is a Yellowface type 1 skyblue dominant pied The other one is a YF type 2 opaline skyblue spangle and this one has a human glued to its feet
  13. Saw another hybrid I hadnt come across before....a for sale bird. Sulphur crested crossed with a pink and grey galah
  14. When was she is a cage breeding and how old was she then ? and was there any others in the cage as well ?
  15. You were told wrong. Chances are extremely high that she didnt break her eggs but another female did. Or the other birds are keeping her form her nestbox. Remove her and her partner to a seperate cage and you will have more success.
  16. I am confused by what you are saying How can being in acage for 8 months make her confused about how to be a parent when for 8 months she was underaged anyway and not meant to be doing anything that involved being a parent ? Where is she now ? Cage or aviary ? In with others or just her and the male ? Are you sure of her age ?
  17. Are you going Matt ?
  18. An easy to prepare soft food for budgies consists of ( quantities in PARTS as I make a large quantity for my budgies ) 2 parts rolled oats or quick cook porridge oats. 1 part egg and biscuit 1 part dry fine/medium polenta 1/2 part budgie starter 1/2 part budgie seed 3 scoops ( Tablespoons ) powdered whole egg ( optional or substitute ) 2 scoops Whey protein ( optional ) 1 scoop wheatgerm calcivet Mix all with water to a porridge consistency and serve. Large pie plate full is gone overnight. Its there for the evening feed and early morning feed. and gone by mid morning. I serve their vegies seperate to their soft food.
  19. The point being made is mostly about a persons state of health with feathers and dander and dust inb keeping a bird in the bedroom. I guess that can all be alleviated by keeoing things very clean and distrfree and vacuuming a lot. A friend of mine who suffers asthma and was hospitalised recently due to a really bad asthma attack, has a cage a budgies in her living room..............about 30 budgies. Too many for the cage they are in but she wont listen to me She still doesnt get it why she keeps having asthma issues. The dust and seed debris and dander in that house in incredible !! Even I cannot breathe over there, nor can my husband, so we sit out on their patio rather than sit amidst the dust and rather than trying and talk over the loud sounds of the budgies right next to us inside. We encouraged them to get an aviary for the birds to be outside. The aviary has sat there for 6 months or more and she still hasnt put the birds outside in it. She's not all that smart to say the least and trying to make her understand is very very hard

A good sized breeding cage is 60cm wide by 45 cm deep by 45cms high......or 2ft by a foot and a half by a foot and a half WIDER not taller.
  25. **KAZ** replied to Joel's topic in Breeding Tips
Healthy happy birds breed. Unless you address the breeding cage situation first you wont have either healthy or happy budgies nor will you be able to easily to nest checks and look after any chicks that may arise. Go back to square one and get the breeding setup right FIRST is my suggestions.
