  1. I see some "natural" pairings forming amongst my birds -well at least a definate preference. None are old enough to breed so no worries about me adding nesting boxes and there is no real breeding behaviour with so many sharing the big cage. But when the time comes... So far it seems Sylvester is interested in Puddin. Sylvester is a Yf2 dilute (or goldenface, he is more green than blue) and Puddin' is an opaline cobalt (sometimes I think violet because she shows so much) Tweety, my sky opaline dilute has the eye of Tazzy, a recessive pied violet cinammon. And Wylie, my goldenface, is interested in Daffodil, an opaline clearflight pied. I have no idea what any of them are split for as they all came from petshops. So what do you think the possible outcomes of these pairs would be?
  2. Great pics. He is a YF1 correct? Can't wait to see pics of the DFS out and about!!!!!

My initial reaction was female because of the white around the nares, but the bottom is very pink. All of my females have never had that pink on the bottom. How old is the baby?
  4. He's such a big strappin guy. I though Stud at first. Or maybe Schwartz (for Arnold Schwartzenegger (SP?), or **** (short for Richard). Guess the sensors wouldn't let that one through. Rick starting with a D....
  5. Having this tree (playgym) has certainly made it easier for me to get flying pics of the birds. Tweety and Sylvester are the most adventurous and will sometimes leave the dining room. Before I let them out I run around the house and make sure all the upstairs doors are closed so I don't lose track of them up there, make sure all the ceiling fans are off, the bathroom door downstairs is closed, the fliplocks are on the outside doors, so no one can opem them accidently. It is a lot of work to protect them, but I love to give them out time. Here are Sylvester and Tweety flying about. And here is Max having fun on the ladder. It's acrylic and a bit slippery. I scraped it up so they would have better grip. And Tweety chewing the **** out of a branch. They love chewing on the tree!

Seems like a really active and SMART budgie to me. How big is his cage? Does he fly out when he opens it?

Cute Bea! I see some of Oz's flight feathers are growing back in. Is he flying much?
  11. Any new pics?
  12. My hubby thinks the same - I'll head in to sit with them for a few minutes after work to relax. He'll say, how can you relax with all that noise. But it isn't noise to me. Nice pics Lovey. The ladder is really cool. Do they climb it?
  13. Glad they are so happy in there. Love to see them with so much room!

Exciting. Keep the pics of babies coming please!!!! Love to watch them develop.
  17. They are absolutely gorgeous! I'm going to guess recessives, but I'll be anxious to see more pictures as they mature. They look like cinammons on my monitor (brown). :)
  18. Well we had a close call last night. While Lucas was having his bath, I let a few of the budgies out for some time in the tree. Usually they either stay in the tree or fly back and forth to their cage. Not today though... Tweety decided to go for a little fly around the house. She went into the living room and back, but then I guess she decided she liked the freedom, so she took off again up the stairs and straight into the bathroom. I screamed to Lucas to grab her if she went in the water. By the time I got up the stairs she was already in the water. But luckily it was only for a second or two before Lucas had her. She coughed and sputtered, and bit me repeatedly while I got her back to her cage. I watched her closely for several hours and she was fine. So a warning to everyone, if your budgies are out and about make sure all water sources (toilets too) are covered. They fly fast and accidents can happen in just a few seconds.
  19. What a beautiful bird!!!! I think male.
  20. Awwwe, so sweet. Can't wait for more pictures!

Has the diet changed at all? Do you see visible blood. I would be concerned about red. You should probably take your budgie to an avian vet, or at least take a stool sample in for analysis.
