  1. I agree they and they are beautiful, congrats.
  2. There is no such thing as pearls in budgies mutation as there is in cockatiels, Neville is correct she also looks like an opaline too. She is very pretty.
  3. Diva, Bumblebee, Angelica and the rest WOW Liv your budgie have done a great job!! Simply beautiful and healthy looking babies and what a variety of mutations and colors. Congrats.
  4. There is a website and I used to have it book marked and I know I added it to this site so you may want to do a search that talks all about safe branches, the best thing is to always know what you are picking and make sure it has not been sprayed. I bake my branches (if they fit) in the oven on 250F (low) for 20 minutes and supervision that is what many sites say to do to kill the nasties.
  5. I agree with maisie, on the other hand you tell her Auntie Elly tells her to behave herself or she can't have those late night IM's with Merlin anymore
  6. each bird is different but I believe some are so interested in mimicking they do pick it up very quickly, first they pick up the whistles and then go from there.
  7. Oh house hunting exciting and stressful at the same time, good luck , I am sure the perfect house will jump out at you.
  8. they are super sweet, congrats.
  9. When you are using a macro setting and need to use flash take the babies next to the sunlight if possible, put the tape on the camera and then close the button down 1/2 way that will then give the camera time to auto focus all digital cameras have this feature pretty much. As Kaz says they all look like hens because of the flash.

Read here on how to post pictures within guide regulation Photo Regulations/How to Post TIPS on taking good pictures that WIN Make sure you have good lighting Try and take your budgie's picture without the bar cages, many camera's will let you zoom in and you can put the lense between the space If it is a close-up use your macro setting (symbolized on some camera's by a flower) and then press the shutter button 1/2 way and let it focus If the picture is blurry check your setting and try again Make sure you resize your pictures to message board size (640x480) too small of pictures are hard to see
  12. I do step up training and taming this is what helps form the bond you should be working on it all together. I know you are trying to separate bonding and taming. I am not sure why because it really is all combined process. Yes, Merlin loves to be with me, he will even preen on my finger while I am on the computer.
  13. Everyday yes let him do his thing but keep the cage closed so he can't go in, Merlin's cage is right by my computer so when I work on the computer he is on his cage, I will go up and give him millet and sit back down, they will look for the companionship budgies are too social not too.
  14. Pretty did this to me too that is why I said read my article . What I did was I take him out and then I close the cage door and I would cover it up or remove it from the room if I wanted him by me, if it is okay he is on the cage then just shut the door it is okay if he climbs around it, good exercise. They just do your thing, like with Merlin when I was bonding with him, I just closed the door and sat at my computer and talked to him and I would give him millet on top of the cage to eat. He would climb around and hang on to the side but that is okay.
  15. thank you for the update ...patience pays off.
  16. holding? Most budgies do not like to be held. Think of what you may be doing that is scaring him, it could be something simple. Hands really are scary becaue they are large and they grab and Budgies know that. Backing off on the hand could be the answer but not on talking to him, letting him out etc...

Go Fish Do you have mountains where you live?
  18. WOW, that is awesome.
  19. Budgies will breed with another budgie they are not partners for life.
  20. Yes, I know that feeling and then sometimes he is behind something and I can't find him and I panic. I am glad Charlie is himself again and playing up a storm.

Prefer hot weather Does it snow where you live?
  22. They are all gorgeous, congrats. BEFORE you breed them 1. make sure you know all their ages, they have to be at least 12 months old 2. make sure they have passed their 30 day quarantine 3. make sure they are in top condition and have completely finished their molt I am sure there is other advice but that is what I can think of right now.

    fingers crossed .
  25. I think the reason it is easier for larger birds is that they are used to eating large pieces of food and they are more apt to trying new things. Budgies beaks are small and pellets in my opinion even when made for budgies are large, I had to smash mine up for either one of mine to try them and it took months.
