My Baby Cookie And His Training
This is what happens to budgies in the first couple days when people can pet and stroke them they think they are tame but they are actually too terrified to move. Through my own personal experience your bird now as the "guts" to let you know she is scared to death of you. To create a bond you must spend a lot of time with them but this time is not always about your hands but talking to them, your hands are big to a budgie and they look like a predator and the last thing she probably remembers was being grabbed and put into a cage/box and taken away from everything she knew. Time, patience and talking to her will help her come around. I can give you my tips but I wrote them up into an article that you can find in the FAQ section called Taming Your Budgie, I suggest you read it to get ideas and such. Her biting (some birds bite harder then others) is most likely out of fear at this point.

if you continue to do what you do and time creates bonding too, if she is tamed and you spend time with her she will bond in no time.

Help Please
There is an excellent article in the FAQ about Taming your Budgie, that is where I would tell you to go for my advice and tips since I wrote it up. The KEY is the more time spent the tamer he will become and stay tame.

Overweight .. So Seed Vs Pellet
Everyone has a difference in opinion about pellets vs seed, here in the US pellets is pushed but an all pellet diet is not good, there are member here that won't touch pellets, there is a good article in the FAQ section under Food and Nutrition about Seed vs Pellet. The thing is it really not seed vs pellet if you are okay with pellets they should only make up a portion of their diet. A bird should never be on a all seed diet and never on an all pellet diet so I don't understand why people "vs" it all the time. To help slim a bird down just like in a human veggies and fruit is what should be a major part of their diet along with excerise. I suggest giving them a well rounded diet and if that includes pellets for you that is okay but increase the veggies .

My New Pastel Flock!
When you get the possible mate remember to quarantine first & also make sure you know the age of the budgies you are breeding, budgies should not be younger then 12 months . Good luck.
