  1. what you do to help with the transition is crush them up with a spoon and make them very fine that is what I am doing with Merlin. Then layer the seed with it so they have to pick through it to get to the seed. They may not eat it but they will get the taste of it. Also if they like veggies sprinkle on there or a brocolli floret you can sprinkle some on there. Just be creative but to get them started you have to at least offer. Now I don't know if Merlin is eating it (Laughing out loud) to be honest I know when I look he is hulling his seed like a stink pot but that is okay. They said it could take up to 1 year and you can change different brands around to see what appeals to them. Just try and stay away from the ones with dyes in them. Never switch over cold turkey which I am sure you know but I am just stating for the general audience reading the post.
  2. Well you taught me Nerwen a lot so that is probably why (Laughing out loud) Do what works for you so you can figure it out that is what I say unless it is a genetic test :.

Bluebell could have been begging for food and she decided to feed her it is very normal for budgies to feed each other. Excellent idea to help her get along, I remember Kaz's Trooper was given a ladder made by Cheeta's husband to help him get around. Before you know it he didn't have any issues. . Wonderful pics.
  4. Happy Birthday I agree with pie , as for the yellowface gene that is only described in a blue base bird because all greens of course have yellowfaces. They are very pretty, what are their names?
  5. yes shoulders are excellent Pretty and Merlin always will jump on my shouder vs staying on my finger. Then they are closer for kisses . How is the training going?

Pretty who was from a pet shop just passed away not even 2 years old yet. Could he have been harboring an illness that wasn't detected until not because he got it from other birds? I will never know. Merlin was from a home that rescused his parents & the babies. He is one of the rescused babies. He is doing okay and when this is avian exam with flying colors. You really need to do your research, you need to make sure the facility is clean breeders or pet shop and simply their knowledge and talking to them will help you get a feel for if they care about the birds or if they are just breeding and selling.
  7. that is excellent and this is a great post because it shows that some are not tamed overnight like people expect. It took me 9 months before Pretty started to love me with affection. Merlin right now is going through the process of being 1 bird so though he is not scared of me he tolerates my requests of affection (Laughing out loud) because Pretty was his "boy".
  8. those are great (Laughing out loud) and the other one looks like an eagle with his iris ring so defined

she looks like a sheep (Laughing out loud) I haven't seen anything like that. She is very pretty.
  12. is it cold in your house? It really shouldn't be fluffed up unless they are getting ready for a nap or are content and then they usually have 1 foot up and tucked.
  13. Where are you putting it? I advised perches of all shapes and sizes (natural perches are wonderful). You have a lot of room for different enrichement toys and such. .
  14. I agree for right now I would say stress if you see any symptoms of fluffyness or listness which is different then just being quiet because of a new place she may be sick.
