  1. your welcome :budgiedance:
  2. :budgiedance: he probably is mimicking the keys on the keyboard it will be talking before you know it. As for the birds outside you may want to cover his cage a bit when he freaks out on the back or where he can see the window unless he doesn't do it for too long. You don't him to hurt himself going nuts . When you change his liner can you do it while he is out for free time? That may help but he will also adjust and know you are not hurting him very soon. Glad you had a good night out :wine
  3. yes in that case you may have to leave it out or if you can give it to him during his free time :budgiedance: or reintro at a different time. Happy Easter
  4. can't wait to see the finished work :budgiedance: sounds wonderful.
  5. For that I uncover just the front of the cage for about 1 hour in the morning and then once they are awake take off the cover completely. It helps them wake up on their own
  6. Wow do you think he is getting shoved out because he is so big? When you find the answer about the genetics question you asked please post :budgiedance:.
  7. hope you found room for it Cheeta what an awesome deal :budgiedance:, those picture even make it look bigger then before
  8. one thing too is always offer it to them daily when you are working on getting them to eat new stuff. I remember with Pretty I used to chop it and it would even get mushy because of certain fruits but when I stopped doing that I had to start again because they he wouldn't touch it. He was very picky in that realm loved his seed and millet. I offer daily to Merlin :budgiedance:. It took me 3 months to get them to even start to taste so you are on a good start. Offer different colors too mine didn't like carrots because it was orange but would eat anything green under the sun.
  9. well you know you have us here to always feel free to ask. My vet did it very simple with Merlin. Took a clear plastic container like they use for traveling weighed that and then zeroed it out and then put Merlin in it with the top closed (yes he didn't like it) and then weighed him. He was 41g which was a little slight for him but okay.

  11. If you contact Nerwen she will know what I mean and can probably help you out with weight. I am glad everything sounds good
  12. They are cute cute okay I am not sure I will get your question answered correctly so I will just work out what I understand. Texas Clearbody is when the body feathers are diffused or absent so it wouldn't have anything to do with the wing markings. If anything the DF spangle could cover up the Texas Clearbody if that is possible because then there are no wing markings. Remember clearbodies have normal wing markings. Make sense? Clearbodies can also have a 50% dilution where the coloration then becomes stronger near the vent of the bird. It is also sex-linked gene so the hen could not hide it but the cock can. I think that is as clear as mud to me too
  13. Lanken you might want to add that as a separate post since it is a different question .
  14. his mummy that there was an evil budgie villian in the city. His mom said ______________________
  15. It is normal as long as he is not being protective or completely obessed like day in and day out. You can certainly rearrange his toys frequently during this stage and even give longer hours of darkness to cool down the hormones. Boys will be boys and as long again as he is not being nasty toward you (which can happen during hormonal periods or protecting a toy) he is perfectly normal.

    I am totally saying male
  17. Your welcome Paul
  18. I find that when my birds were clipped they did it more often to exercise their wings or if they didn't get out for the day. After the flights grew back in I never saw the behavior again probably because they could then fly. So it is normal.
  19. Yes but Pretty never listend now Merlin by himself is a gem

Your right about private breeders I asked a big avian hospital here in Ohio by me and they looked at me cross eyed. Now tell me they have to be somewhere (Laughing out loud) because the petshops get budgies . Oh well but there is the big avian rescue organization by me and they always have budgies. I found them through petfinders.com
