thank you all Yes I know Norm he is spoilt. His cage is huge and honestly he doesn't have as many as some he has so much flying space and he uses his whole cage which I love. When he had Pretty they stayed on top. Now he loves to fly up and down and across to the lower branches and come and flirt with me This is his favorite spot to perch and he loves his ball and bells.

I thought they could only throw a green chick if they were in the green series Daz? I understand that the yellow bleed can cause green in the blue series but the bird is really a blue which is recessive and so they can't be carrying the green gene :fear. Gotcha on all the other whys :budgiedance:

Daz if they are a yellowface are they not of the blue series so how can they be a light green?The first one a grey diluted dominant pied, I don't see the opaline though?The second one yellowface type 2 spangle (I don't see the dominant pied or opaline)?these are just my opinion and of course can be changed :DI agree the top is a male the bottom with the flash on the cere not quite sure.

I have heard of it but I also heard that it is not always accurate and is not good idea to be pressing down there because the bones are so fragile so unless you know exactly what you are doing it is not recommended.

I agree with Nerwen they are so pretty those pieds from the picture the cere looks really pink so possible boy but a close up not blurry would help .

sounds like you have things under control I do suggest that you have a cage at least for night time for safety also if your bird ever needs to be caged because they are sick, need to go to the vet or for transportation for any reason they are used to a cage and not stressed.

If you are trying to stay within a certain budget then I would go on e-bay you get a bigger cage for your buck. This store and many other stores are way overpriced on cages.

can you get a better picture of 3 you said it had plum eyes and now they are dark check and see if you can see any cinnamon marking because that is what happens with a cinnamon bird

when I bought Pretty I read a lot of books that now say not too use sandpaper covers as well as the grit (another issue) so I knew not too. We live and learn.

That is what happened to me when Pretty passed on I was able to get to know Merlin better. Merlin is doing great, becoming playful and is now mimicing my whistles...I think he is trying to talk too. He is a gorgeous and welcome back.
