Thinking About Upgrading..
very nice...cage one thing though and I know I don't want to be a downer but that cage looks more tall then wide and wide is so very important for budgies since they fly back and forth more then up and down. BUT it is great for a couple budgies and she looks great in there .

Do Budgies Need A Nap?
I find when they are babies they nap very frequently throughout the day and as they get older it is hard to catch them in the snooze position but they will do a quick doze without the head tucked. I remember reading that it is good to let them wind down and relax. I have found that afternoon time around 1-3 is quiet time and the nosiest is first thing in the am and later in the afternoon, earlier evening.

Thinking About Upgrading..
Missy I wouldn't get that cage at all personally because the space barring or have you find the same cage with smaller spaces? I don't know if that one comes apart, I know the one I have does which is the one that Zebra posted. The cage part does come off the stand. I believe you can get that in AU you have to look on e-bay or a dealer by you. Those cages are extremely popular and you can fit 4 budgies in there with no problems no more then six. Merlin is in his cage all on his own .

Hello Everyone :)
I agree with feathers which means that your bird is actually blue and the golden face is a deeper yellow then the regular yellow face gene and the yellow is washing over the body (blue and yellow make green )

Budgie Buddy
because of that behavior I wouldn't give her those things because she is too protective of them - think how frustrating it is when your friend doesn't talk back to you or recepiocate your love. That is why you see most birds banging on them out of frustration. Merlin is a sole budgie and he doesn't have any of those things and honestly he is totally fine

Hello Everyone :)
yes it work...though I am wondering and maybe someone else with a good eye can say to if your female is actually a blue with a Yellowface Type 2 mutation. Which means that they yellow is bleeding into the blue causing the green body especially since she has a fair amount of blue on the lower part of her body.

Zeus Update
While you were with him something may have frightened him. I would move the location of his cage because whenever you change the enviroment where the bad situation happened it helps the animal move forward with trust. Also if he is a big millet fan holding a piece up to the side of the cage where he can come over and nibble is wonderful or hold it for him with your hand in the cage. He will trust you again don't worry but again working in a different location is going to be key where you are taking him out of his comfortable enviroment where he needs the sense to protect himself and put him back into a situation where he needs to rely on you for protection.

Beautiful cage I agree with Zebra the cage spacing it too large.

Are You Sure Its A Male ? ?
Your baby is brand new and most new budgies in an new enviroment will be quiet. I got Pretty very young and he barely made a sound until his 6 month and I am not kidding. He was the quietest budgie and never moved. All budgies are different so your budgie may be quiet or when he feels more comfortable he will starts to show his personality more. I agree with Kaz and Daz total boy no mistaken .

Budgie Buddy
From reading and being on these boards long enough putting in mirrors, plastic budgies can cause trouble especially in an already aggressive "protective" of my stuff type of budgie. If you find she attaches herself it any toy and it becomes obessive I would remove it and only give it to her for cage out time and rewards. Merlin and Pretty never had mirrors and they were both on their own with no other budgie and they never became agressive toward any toys. Moving stuff around in the cage 1x a month also helps and rotating toys.

New News
Zebra I have 2 kids and when I had my kids I had 2 dogs, 4 cats and no birds (which are very low maintaince to the 2 dogs which were a husky and shep x at that time). Now I have 2 dogs still (our husky and a min pin our shep passed away), Merlin, fish, hermit crabs and now 2 cats (the other 2 passed away of old age). You will do fine. Remember the birds have each other so while you are getting in the routine of the baby they will be fine even if it is 6 months. Your care will be split of course and your #1 priority your new baby so during this time right before the baby is born I would stop breeding making everything very simple where it is just adult birds to take care of and worry about breeding once you have everything down with the baby.I can't tell you how much time you will spend with your baby (oh yes 24/7 (Laughing out loud)) but the personality of your baby is going to determine more on how everything goes. She/he could be fussy or not, all babies are good but all have different personalities and some are needer then others. My son (1st born) was very very needy I felt that everyone was ignored for a every long time but remember everyone had a friend. My dogs didn't hate me because I didn't walk them like I did they adjusted we all adjusted and over time things were normal with baby now. Then Hailey came along and walks ceased again but that is okay the great thing about pets is they love you no matter what. When I see I have to get rid of my pets because I just had a baby makes me very sad and sick because that is not a real excuse it just is not I have been there before and still am. Pets make a family, children LOVE animals and all children must be taught to respect each individual pet. As my shep mix wouldn't care if my kids rolled on him my husky was not so keen that was okay. The kids learned this I didn't get rid of my husky I could never.Zebra everything will be fine I promise. I can't guarantee smooth sailing but I can guarantee that even if you ignore them and don't give them everything like you did before the baby they forgive, understand and know once you get a routine everything will come in place .Zebra...sorry I just saw you don't breed (Laughing out loud) but that is okay if someone was having a baby and was breeding that would be my advice .

Colony Or Selective Breeding
Can I add even though I don't breed that if I did breed after reading, learning and being part of these message boards for 2 years now I would select breed. For me it would be because it is safer for the birds in general. I know there are more reasons but that would be my #1 reason why I would select breed vs colony breeding.

Our New Addition
Yes he is young and a cutie. Congrats You didn't mention quarantine from your newest budgie (I assume you already are) but if you are not it is always good to keep a new addition in a separate cage and room for 30 days (vet recommends 90 days) to ensure your new addition doesn't get your established bird (s) sick.
