  1. Welcome to our forums. We have a fanastic FAQ section on breeding budgies and such that was created by the breeders on our forum so feel free to review all the info plus. :bluebudgie:
  2. budgies get alot of their water from the fruits and veggies that they eat, it is very common not to see your budgie drink because they need very little water for survival (but always have a fresh supply daily). So not to worry they are probably drinking and quickly when you are not looking. I can't remember if I even ever saw Merlin drink water. I know I have seen Pretty though . Welcome to our site.
  3. I agree with what feathers said also to add when I see the birds banging and feeding the mirrors or such objects such as a fake bird I used to think it was cute until I was explained the opposing view of how frustrating it must be to love such an object so much like this and it gives no love back therefore in turn the budgies ACK ACK so much more because they are trying to get it to respond. I find that Merlin does not ack ack very much because he gets the attention he needs from him human person (or in someone else's case another budgie if they have more then 1)
  4. When my budgies did this it was when they were clipped and they could not fly about, I believe it is a way they exercise their wings since they don't fly as frequently as unclipped budgies. Merlin and Pretty both stopped this when their flights grew in. Clipped or unclipped it is a form of excerising their wing muscles.
  5. do a search for a post done by rainbow she had a great post on it along with pics of her birds, it was quite the explanation. I do have difficulties figuring it out.

hugs on the fires, my aunt lives up North so she is doing okay. She looks YF2 Cobalt as norm said. Check craigslist too in the pet section and lost and found I have found ads there and also on petfinders you will be amazed along with your newspaper and call the vets and let them know so they can post something. I am always surprised when I see lost ads for birds.
  7. they all look wonderful Paul, congrats

just about anything that is not harmful can be turned into a toy. A piece of paper crumbled into a ball, toilet roll that is cut all the way through so he can't get stuck anything you can imagine .
  9. Peronally I would do your daily routine and when your budgie is ready for a nap he will nap. There is no certain amount of time he should nap like kids. They doze more then sleep deep during the night. Nighttime sleep is what is important and it should be around 8-10 hours.
  10. the cereal one needs to be in the budgie of the month feathers that is just way too cute
  11. he is beautiful...I see you have him in with another bird I hope you quaratine (if you haven't already) it is so important for all your birds. :fear
  12. beautiful pictures
  13. I agree it is a greywing, they have a 50% dilution to their bodies. If it was a dilute it would be an 80% dilutation and he is not that light. Pretty bird.

So cute, Merlin was obsessed with bells at one point too I think it is because they are shiny and can see their reflection or something
  22. WOW 9...very cool the look like they are going to be big and healthy

Merlin did that with his ball too. Take it away for about a week and reintroduce if you find that he has the same attitude use the ball as now a reward. He can only play with it with you and don't leave him unattended with it . Balls are great toys and right now you have the advantage to play a fun game with him and give him some exercise too.

Meaning is the color mutation a good thing yes it is not a bad thing . You should be able to look at the rings and there will be a date on there and how old they are. If you want to list the ring numbers here I know someone will help you out
