  1. Look forward to seeing the babies :hap:
  2. I (and I am sure others) suggest that if you have never done a wing clip on a bird to have someone show you in person how to do it (such as an experience vet who can clip, an avian vet or your reputable local pet shop or breeder in your area. You need 2 people one to hold and stretch out the wing and another to cut and help hold the wing. You can do searches and find pictures but I always found it to scary because I didn't want to cut too short because they can bled to death very quickly. When you cut wings or nails aways have a blood stopping substance to stop the bleeding immediately. That is my advice .
  3. Excellent!!! :hap:
  4. We have an excellent resource in the FAQ about purchasing from a breeder and from a pet shop under General Info. What I have found here in the states is that it is very very difficult to find budgies that have been handled when they have been in the nest so you may have really search to find what you are looking for (it may be different by you). If you find a breeder of budgies they and you are willing to be patient they may have some hens on eggs and be willing to handle them for you. In the states a ha$nd raised budge would be around 60.00 US not tamed around 15-20$.] Good luck and welcome to the forums.
  5. Wonderful pictures!!! Such a rainbow of colors. What type of camera did you get?

Kaz hit it on the nail this would be my advise too exactly.
  7. Congrats, she is beautiful
  8. Arthritis is inflammation of the joints due to joint break down such as not having different style perches, old age I would think that if the bird is already arthritic and on a cold wet day it would make the arthritis more painful but I agree I can't see how it would cause it. Did he say why or have research behind his statement?
  9. He is gorgeous chick, maybe she felt she could only take care of 1 chick and picked the strongest at the time.... I am glad he made it .

Congrats and photos always help me think of names . I can't wait to see them.
  18. I agree what a wonderful job you have done and I am sure your birds are appreciating your hardwork...
  19. I agree your bird is not improving so she probably has something going on with her that only an avian vet can figure out for you. Keep us updated.
  20. do a google search too you can put in key words such as budgie breeder (then put your area) and see what you come up with, look in the paper also for those who sell budgies around you and you can call get a feel for them and see if they are crediable. In my area they are few and in between the private good breeders but I am sure they are there . Good luck and don't blame yourself.

  23. In our FAQ section we do have an avian vet look-up tool that you can use, also if you call a regular vet in your area ask them questions to see if they are familar with birds, or an avian shop or breeder by you may assist. You can do a google too in your area to see what you come up with .
  24. that is false statement BUT this is true in some type of reptiles but not birds .
