  1. I would not use that for a heater just a tiny gas leak and your budgie will be dead, you should use a regular electric heater (no no tephlon coating) that is what I use in my room to keep Merlin warm.
  2. Welcome
  3. way too cute, wonderful pics and your daughter is beautiful
  4. instead of cinnamon which would be brown marking it looks more like she is a dilute so I would say yes to everything but go with a dilute also.
  5. bumping up in case anyone has any more ideas, different topics they would like to see, we have a very comphrensive FAQ section thanks to many members here on the forums, if it wasn't for them and members asking different questions that are deemed good info for the FAQ they wouldn't be so expanded. We are always looking to expand...

that is exactly this situation sounds like the same people, and my mil thinks I am nuts too but she has listened to a point. She tried to grab Merlin so they could clean out the bottom of the cage well I wish she would have called me she said he is mad at her and won't talk or perch on her finger now. He is not mad he is now scared and she lost his trust, he will be home soon, but I want to ensure he will be safe here from the paint fumes. PEOPLE.
  13. I had to come back and look at your work, I just love the tiny tiny toilet so cute.
  14. cool, glad to see you back
  15. I could see if her being stressed for the first week but she should have been settled in and the poops back to normal. I see you have 2 budgies under your profile, I assume she is in quarantine and away from your other bird? I personally (just my view) would schedule that avian vet appointment for peace of mind but that is just me.
  16. very sorry to hear this news :D
  17. If your budgie is having off and on runny poos you can treat the symptoms but you really need to know the underlying cause of what is happening and the only way you can figure that out is by scheduling an apppointment with an avian vet so they can do some tests to see if this is just normal issues or if there is more going on. I have personally experience having a bird that had runny poos and then in a few hours went to Rainbow Bridge. I am not here to scare you but to just educate that though there are wonderful home remedies sometimes our feathered friends need more.
  18. I of course am going to add to the FAQ with your permisison, thank you
  19. Sprinkle the seed and mix it within the veggies, they are probably just being pick Merlin gets that way too.
  20. Sounds like you are progressing, continue what you are doing. You may want to try a smaller room for taming though so she is not flying past you. . I don't have any studies on what you asked but I can tell you that yes they do recognize voices of their owners, the faces etc...mine do. Pretty was more of a one owner bird because I spent so much time, Merlin is more well rounded where he knows me but accepts others too.
  21. Merlin does the same thing a lot of time I think it is hormonal or just theim as their personality. Merlin's bites are not as hard as you are describing but I bet that spray bottle will work it is more effective.
  22. wonderful news Aly
  23. oh my goodness Aly, congrats they are beautiful, I love the defined markings of the opaline gene
  24. I believe she is a violet and the cinammon mutation has a tendency to wash out the colors so this is why her blue is light.
  25. Elly replied to Dude's Mum's topic in New to BBC
Maise is correct about a possible avian vet visit. Keep in him a warm spot, calm for a day or so, and watch for shock. It is hard to tell between the 2 pictures about the blue, I am going to assume violet because Merlin is one and that is what happens to the colors on him. With no flash it can make him look extremely violet and then with flash it makes him look more sky blue. The best way to capture the violet is to have him next to a window on a nice bright day and then take a picture without flash that is how I capture Merlin's colors.
