  1. that is a common place where fatty tumors can be, Neat is right but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. How is she doing today?
  2. I am thinking it is related to his other health issues, all you can do is continue a good health diet. How long to you leave him covered at night?
  3. that is cute, Merlin and Pretty both loved their plastic balls too .
  4. Independence Day/4th of July Information for those who don't know what it is. I will get the pics downloaded and post here shortly Neat
  5. My question is it full blown moulting or pin heads that don't ever seem to release? I need to get the molting aide because that is Merlin's issues on his head.
  6. keep us updated on the progress of course with pictures in between the hammering and such

wow, good warning, freak accidents do a occur, hugs on the loss
  8. My same EXACT thought Kaz, you must enter that picture HOW adorable are they
  9. Please NEVER keep your budgie in the kitchen with you when you are cooking you may find him dead one day. The fumes from cooking, along with any tephlon you may have will give off toxic fumes. When you cook keep him in the other room only when you are not cooking it is okay. As for everything else yes....keep him close to you. Have you read my article yet?

I agree with Kaz, I personally had Pretty in a cage that size and would never think of putting in 2 in that cage even with out time they need their space, I would consider upgrading to a cage that can hold up to 6 budgies in case you decide to expand again , they are relatively cheap if you look on e-bay too. Congrats on the new addition.
  11. they grow so fast, the 7th picture is adorable....you should submit for July Budgie of the Month
  12. I love Olives she is beautiful, once I tried and left my purse in the car but then I came home with Pretty
  13. welcome back, look forward to seeing your new babies grow up, you can actually start a journal in our Breeding Journal section . Samual is a cutie. Red eyes in the nest do indicate an albino or lutino but don't be mistaken for plum eyes that can indicate a cinnamon or recessive type of variety.
  14. One thing that I didn't see acknowledged was the grit, I know it is contreversial but from what I understand grit is not necessary since budgies do hull their seeds vs the bigger parrots that don't. They have shown that it can cause more impaction then be helpful but then there are others that believe in it for digestion.
  15. looks wonderful in there, great job
  16. I find them exciting we don't have those type of animals by us except for the falcon or hawk? (reminds me of a red tail hawk)
  17. hope your exams when well, miss your updates.
  18. What every happened ????
  19. Well when you think that you have 24 hours in a day and 8 of it is sleeping so that leaves 14 hrs left and then you work and play 11 hours of it you have 3 hours left to play with your budgie right and when you break it up and if you have a smaller cage like I did with Pretty I used to cart him around the house with me in everything I did. Sitting and watching T.V. with the cage right next to you is a perfect way to bond. People forget they don't want to be petted like a dog or cat they just like the close companionship that is what creates the bonding. I have made many mistakes along the way because I was in a dog/cat frame of mind but when I realized that birds are "wild" not domesicated and we expect them to conform to us but in reality we need to become part of them not the other way around like cats and dogs and once your bird accepts you as part of "his" family the bonding really begins.
  20. Yep, I did but they took the camera to the parade so when I get it back I will add picture to the post, not very fancy just something for the kids to have fun with and ride on.
  21. I remember my wedding too and I don't want to go back there hehe....the wedding day was wonderful the planning and the MIL were horrible
  22. Thank you, my kids are in the 4th of July Parade they are so excited. Last night they made a float to pull with my husband's trailer & the neighbor will pull it with his truck
  23. Within everything read I feel that 30 minutes a day is not enough and the more time you can spend with your bird the better and that doesn't mean it needs to be sitting on you. The best way to get a bird to bond with you is to NOT touch it or try to make it come by you but to be in the same room with it while he is in his cage and feels safe. When you take your bird out of the "comfort zone" like trying to touch him, taking him out of his cage he is focused on getting away not you, when you keep him in his cage and keep him by you when you are home and he feels safe he will focus on you. I know this from first hand experience as I have tamed a pet store bird & a private owned bird. I have written up an article on how I tamed them and it is located in the FAQ section. One thing about food if they only rely on you for a treat or food they will not bond the way you want them too they will only see you as a source of food so you need to also bond with them in other ways too food is a tool but not the answer.
