Here's pics of my new budgies.

Valkyrie - Green Cin wing

Vulcan (centre)- Green dom pied. He's got a wonky foot and really has only one good foot for perching so he often doesn't sit up straight... He seems happy otherwise and I was told that his feet used to be fine and he had an accident... (not sure if I believe this) I've cut his claws and he seems to grip a bit better. Do people think that this is going to cause problems for him? Is it likely to be a genetic thing or just one of those things. His toes seem to go a bit twisted but his feet aren't red or otherwise looking scabby/sore. He's able to flex his feet well. I loved his colours anyway...

Poseidon - vulcans brother. Cobalt dom pied.

Good looking birds. I particularly like Valkyrie

Vulcan's wonky feet might be a problem if you try to breed from him. They don't look like they could have been caused by an accident

Yeah, we had a hen with a wonky foot as a kid and she had babies with wonky feet. She was given to us and we were also told it was an accident that caused it. After the first clutch we took her out and didn't let her breed again. It's not fair on the babies.... sorry.

They really are lovely birds, I love that green colour.

I think you're right Moglet and Neville and thanks for the input.

I'm happy to have Vulcan (his colors are lovely and he seems happy) but I'd hate to breed a clutch of budgies with foot problems so he's definately not for breeding consideration.

I hope I'm not out of line by adding a reply about the little fella with the wonky foot but I have seen this happen with chicks where the hen sits to long on the egg or is a new hen and doesn't roll it properly if the chick is born during the hot months this can also happen or if the parents are on a poor diet calcium is a big plus when a hen is broody I actually put a couple of teaspoons on dry calcium in a 20 kg bag of seed and mix it in. every little bit helps It doesn't get into the seed but the birds get trace amounts when they eat it :)
