I love that he's insulting himself, and doesn't even know it. Link to comment

Just about everything Blinkie says sounds like martian talk to me. He's got a few things he can say very clearly though (in my opinion). Even Ozzie's talking now, he says "Zeeeeeeee" really long. It's his interpretation of his name, as everytime i greet him i say "Hey Ozzieeeeee". Fizzy can do a few of the whistles Bailee does, so i have a very chatty bunch here at my house. Link to comment

Holly came out with a new one today...the room was quiet and he was sitting on the floor of his cage and said very clearly in the high pitched little voice he gets from me "Hello Beeps!" Reason being he picked up the sound the answer machine makes (a beep noise) when he kept getting chucked out of the living room for being too noisy when my dad was ill and off work for three weeks, so I have taken to calling him Beeps as another of his nick names. I'm currently working on whistling the first line of "Twinkle twinkle little star" with him...so far I've heard him do the first 4 notes and then he stops. Ravengypsy, I can't really help about your birds talking as Holly is the only bird I have therefore he listens to me and my family all the time and so he's picked up quite a lot (he's certainly the quickest learner I've had...my brother taught him to whistle in a week)...but he also makes chirps like the wild sparrows he can hear outside too. My talkers/mimickers/whistlers are in cages/rooms with more birds and they spend time in my flock of 5 for several hours a day. Blinkie, the best talker of the bunch, was an only bird for over a year. The others have still learned though. Link to comment
Guest Phoebe
The most beautiful budgie in the universe calls himself Stinky!!! One of the two budgies that I am babysitting for a couple of months, Echo, says "budgie, budgie", "Echo, Echo" and I think, "pretty bird". Link to comment

It is easier to teach a solo , male budgie to talk as you become a member of their flock and they learn to mimic you. Budgies together have each other as their flock members, so as you have found they mimic each other. Sometimes, if you have had a solo budgie and taught t to talk the second budgie will copy the first and learn phrases. More often though, when another budgie is added, they will regress and stop talking as much, or at all. They are all different though. Feathers. Link to comment
