Today another one hatched and they are SOOOOOOOOOO cute!! The first one is about 3 times as big as the 2nd, and there are still 3 more to come!!! OOH CUTE LITTLE JELLY BEANS!!! So far every time I have checked, there have been full crops all around and they are all looking TERRIFIC (and cute). For a first time (quite young) mother, Tracey is a very caring budgie! I'm very proud of her! (And the CUTE little budgie babies!) Oh and what types of mutations will I get from these 2? Sammi: blue YF2 Tracey: Violet YF2 spangle P.S. Sorry no photos, cant get any decent ones, the nesting box doesn't have an extra opening for us. OOH CUTE BABIES!!!!!!!!! Link to comment

The oldest one looks to be getting his/her first feathers, but you can only just see little bits sticking out of his skin. I am very happy with the way that Tracey is being such a great mum. Sammi is also being a great dad. The last one should hatch tomorrow. It is actually quite an achievement for me. It is my first ever clutch of eggs, but its also Tracey's first. Its an achievement for both of us. Link to comment

They are all covered in down and are very cute. I've noticed, Tracey has almost totally white wings, and I'm pretty sure the second eldest is like her, but the eldest has yellow wings like Sammi. The youngest I haven't been able to see recently, it's always under the other two :dbb1: . I'm pretty sure I've got 2 males and 1 female. They are all so cute, I don't think I could ever part with them, but my dad says we have to sell 2 and keep only 1. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?! I think he's crazy. I was also wondering, how do you tell if your babies are spangle? Thanks for the help. :ausb: Link to comment

Look at the two middle tail feathers on a spangle they will be clear (yellow for green and Yellowfaces and white for blues) also the wings may seem paler when still feathering up. Link to comment

I suppose it's probably better that there are only three, that way there is less strain on Tracey. By the way, now that the little ones are growing up, Tracey has started coming out of the nest more. She is looking a lot less ragged :) . Link to comment

Baby 1: YF2 blue spangle, female. 2: YF2 spangle unknown color, female. 3: YF2 spangle unknown color, male. Number 2 is the one with whiter wings. I was wondering, are the white wings some special mutation? I have never seen any other YF2s with white wings. Please help? Thanks, Sammi. Edited September 15, 2007 by Sammi Link to comment

She hasn't come out of the nest yet, but today she had her head sticking up out of the hole, so hopefully tomorrow she will come out. VERY cute! Unfortunately, she will probably be the one I sell. I am keeping the other two because there was only one male and 2 females and one of the females was the one with white wings so it will be my pet. Dad wants to keep the male for breeding purposes. I have finally got some pics! They are of the eldest. "Hey Dad! What's doin?" So very cute! :(Laughing out loud): Edited September 22, 2007 by Sammi Link to comment

Today the second oldest came out of the nest and flew around! I was at school when it happened, but Dad saw the whole thing. He came outside and saw it clinging to the side of the cage. At first he thought it must be Tracey, but then he realised it was too small to be her, and it was messy around the vent. So he went in the cage to help it back in the nest and when he put his hand up to it, it stepped on very calmly. That is great because it will be the one I keep, and I want it to be very tame. Also today, Dad saw two of the babies sticking their heads up out of the hole at the same time! How cute. By my calculations, the eldest should fledge tomorrow, but I have a feeling it will take a fair bit longer, seeing as though it hasn't even come out of the nest yet. Anyway, I'm very happy with the babies. Link to comment

It only has a dirty vent because it has been in the nest and the nest has a bit of dried up poo in it. Anyway, today, there has been a breakthrough. The eldest baby has been out of the nest for most of the day. it is very tame, and will sit on my shoulder easily. I also got it to eat some seeds. At first, it was a fair bit wobbly on the perch. Here are some pics of it on my shoulder. Link to comment
