I took the budgie cage into the front room to change the toys and perches around and in the different light i noticed that the paint is chipping away in places on the roof!! : Talk about annoying!!! This means that the metal underneath is becoming exposed which i am not happy with at all! Is the metal dangerous or is it only if it rusts that it becomes dangerous? Now i'm looking for a new cage which is REALLY annoying because: 1) i've only had this one for approx. 6 months 2) i have been trying really hard to save my money in the bank and now it looks like i'm about to blow it all on a new cage!!! :budgiedance: I would REALLY like to get them one like my tiels cage (Tiel Cage) but i seriously don't know where i would be able to put it, not without moving some of the furniture around in the loungeroom anyway which i doubt my parents will allow. I pretty much don't want to get the same thing i have now because that's proved it's "quality" and i'm not going to try to save money only to have to replace it in 6 months time. I also don't want to pay $80+ to get something half the size of what they're in. :ausb: Does anyone in Australia know of a good cage design/online store with reasonable prices? I would like to get a new cage ASAP because i don't like the idea of Blink and Oz being in a chipped cage. Link to comment

But i've talked to dad and he's agreed to let me rearrange a couple of things so i can get the budgies a cage like the tiels have! I've got one on hold and i'll pick it up tomorrow. Link to comment

Have you thought about calling the manufacture about the issue? See if they have a website on-line and put in a complaint? Link to comment

What about dimensions? It looks like it would fit on the same wall my current budgie cage is on, but looks deeper and a little taller. I like it. It looks like 4 budgies with "personal space issues" would fit in it okay... To look at it in person, what do you think? Link to comment

See if they have a website on-line and put in a complaint? I believe that here it's made by a company called Avi One, it was cheap and flimsy so in a way i'm glad i'm replacing it anyway... I might look for a website though, they should be aware that this happened so quickly... Do you know who the manufacturer is? What about dimensions? To look at it in person, what do you think? The company of this particular one is Avi One, but i think there are a few different ones that are REALLY similar (like identical) made by other companies. You can get a slightly taller version here for $99US. The dimensions of mine is 30" long, 18" wide, and 34" tall (not including the stand). It's a good cage, could easily fit 4 budgies in it. Had a bit of an issue at the pet shop. They scanned the cage and the price that came up was $239 rather than the $152 i was expecting!! I explained to them that i had bought one a couple of months ago for $112 and it had been on sale with the catalouge claiming that i was saving $40. They couldn't find a catalouge from January but believed me and charged $159 (who knows why not $152, but whatever). So then i get it home to find the tray is cracked in one corner. I was SO angry!!!! However, as the old cage and new one are made by the same company the trays are the same, so i'm just using the old one. I'll ring the pet shop in the morning and have a whinge, i want some store credit. We also had a few little problems putting the cage together, some of the screws were REALLY difficult to do up, but my brother did it in the end and when i finally stopped being annoyed at the cage i decorated it with lots of perches and toys. For a while the budgies just did psycho laps around the loungeroom when they saw the big scary thing in their usual corner but now they're happily sitting on it and right now Oz is sitting on the rope perch i've made a landing zone out of on the door and flirting with a toy. Here's a before picture: And after: Link to comment

As i have a tray that fits and have set the cage up i'm not doing that. But that's so rude, if i'm going to fork out that much money to get a broken product and then not get any credit at all! I don't think i'll buy from there again. Link to comment
Guest Phoebe
It still seems weird to me that a cage would become defective under 6 months and they won't address it. Link to comment

Don't think i could get loud and angry at them. They said that what they do is send the product straight back to the supplier and get a full refund (why they apparently can't give me store credit), i've never seen the trays available separately.
