My budgie-boy was caught sleeping on top of his swing (not on the perch, but above it on the metal carcass), which I thought was very uncomfortable. I also found him sleeping attached to the wall of the cage. Maybe next time he will be upside-down like a bat? I wonder if he is alright. The other budgie prefers comfort and space when sleeping. Is this behaviour unusual? Edited February 1, 2007 by Bubbles Link to comment

It sounds normal to me, I think they like to change up their sleeping position. Link to comment

I always chuckle at him. I was shocked at first too! Link to comment

Maybe the top of the swing is the highest place he can comfortably perch? He must be happy there if he is relaxed enough to sleep. Feathers. Link to comment

Guest Kalimazu
I saw a budgie in the pet shop sleeping atop a rather narrow hanging toy once, but had no idea this was such a common occurrence. At the time, I wondered if it might have something to do with sharing the cage with so many others, but maybe not! I'd love to see the "bat thing"! Kali Link to comment
