Hi!

My budgie-boy was caught sleeping on top of his swing (not on the perch, but above it on the metal carcass), which I thought was very uncomfortable. I also found him sleeping attached to the wall of the cage. Maybe next time he will be upside-down like a bat? I wonder if he is alright. The other budgie prefers comfort and space when sleeping. Is this behaviour unusual? :D

Buster used to sleep on top of his swing too. It sounds normal to me, I think they like to change up their sleeping position.

don't be surprised if you do catch him upside down like a bat! *L* Baby loves being an upside down bird, though I guess I've never seen her sleep that way. *L*

I have 16 budgies - 50% of the sleep clung to the side of the cage, a few on top of swings, and I have one that ALWAYS sleeps upside down like a bat. I always chuckle at him. I was shocked at first too!

Most budgies like getting as high as they can, it feels safer to them. Maybe the top of the swing is the highest place he can comfortably perch? He must be happy there if he is relaxed enough to sleep.

I saw a budgie in the pet shop sleeping atop a rather narrow hanging toy once, but had no idea this was such a common occurrence. At the time, I wondered if it might have something to do with sharing the cage with so many others, but maybe not! I'd love to see the "bat thing"! :)

Scooter will sleep with his head up inside of his big blue bell. It's so funny. :(Laughing out loud):

Some birds like to sleep in strange positions, a cockatiel I am babysitting likes to sleep clinging to the side of the cage!

Don't worry!

:D :budgiedance:
