    Blonde Joke

Yep, I'm sorta blonde too. More brown now but I was blonde. It only applies to some blondes, not all!
  2. I name my budgies in pairs for some reason. Skye and Marigold ( both things of nature ) Lexi and Dude ( attitude names ) Chubba Chubs and Thimble ( cutey pooty names )
  3. Should I get the sky blue hen? She looks to be about 6-8 months by irises, correct? Anyway, my parents would probably kill me . I have a quarantine cage. My parents don't 'get' quarantine but when my chicks ( having previously been in quarantine for 6 weeks ) were foraging about the cage dad said to 'be careful of diseases' and I'm like.... PS: I don't think I told you guys, but I pulled Chubba Chubs from the breeding cage as they've starting moulting.
  4. How old are they? The cock looks to be 4-6 months, and the hen under a year.
  5. No, they wouldn't have given me any info. I have asked where they get their birds before with no real answer, only "why do you want to know?"
  6. Damn... I didn't get the code. I don't know if they are from the same breeder, I they probably are as there aren't many breeders here. I've only met one other breeder here and he was a show breeder.
  7. There were three different birds there with the green tail. TBC light green cock. Opaline light green cock. Sky blue hen.
  8. Going to the pet store today so I'm taking photos. They were both still there on Friday and it pretty much closes for the weekend, so I think the chance they are still there are high. Also, there were two fallows there on Friday . I've never seen fallows here before! I think the my only chance to catch up with the breeder would be at the annual bird fair this year.

How do you drown a blonde? Glue a mirror to the bottom of the pool.....

  12. Thanks Finny! I went to the pet store today and actually found two birds ( Tbc and pied cocks ) with green tails. That got me wondering if Marigold and Skye were bred by the same breeder and they are actually related? Maybe ( lets say it is a mutation ) he/she doesn't realise he/she is breeding green tails. A friend of mine bought a bird from the pet store that was blue with a bright green tail. It died, unfortunately.
  13. My budgies 'explore' me with their beaks and the males do sometimes get a little rough.
  14. I bred Marigold, but she wasn't overly tame. It helped with checking the chicks and cleaning though, as she didn't go into a full-blast panic when I approached.
  15. To tell the difference between males and females, look at the cere. If it is blue, it is a male. If it is brown or dark pink, it is a female, like me. Grouping males and females together could result in pairing off and unwanted breeding females will have a pink, white, tan or brown cere Budgies less than a year old that have not yet reached their first molt will have purplish ceres regardless of their gender, and those with unique or rare adult color variations may have differently colored ceres as well. A male budgie will have a blue colored cere (the area at the top of the beak), while the cere of a female will be a pale or a pinkish color. If the area around the nostrils (referred to as the cere) is pinkinsh-brown, it's a female If you plan on getting a male and a female you are going to want to make sure that you get a bigger cage because in the breeding months (usually March-May) they will breed. Yes, they are also inexpensive and fairly easy to care for. As for cage size well the bigger the better if you get male female they will breed yes. budgies can be quite fragile because of there weak hearts and tiny bodys. And they bond for life.
  16. I think it's a fish guys, sharks need ( even small guys ) at least 126 gallons ( I think ) and he swims 'like' a shark.
  17. I'm not sure if they would, but Billy is very well cared for apart from the cage and diet, so they might. The owners left me loads of treats, his special blanket and food brand and two phone numbers. That cage is pretty much useless when it is the right way up. I use it for quarantine or any injured animals ( it's thoroughly cleaned and washed afterwards ).
  18. I'm looking after somebody's budgie, Bill. Yep, I know Bill is a gal, but the owner don't yet. She is such a sweet little thing, loves neck scratches and such. My problem is that she hasn't been out of this cage for years, so she can't fly that well at all. She can't control her flight and can't fly down and sometimes just drops in mid-air. And she tires after very little out-of-cage time. I've set up a bigger cage ( yes, she's being quarantined ) for her and a play-gym ( adding toys tomorrow ) and will wean her onto a better diet with lots of out-of-cage time, but is there anything else I could do?
  19. It's going to be hot, but the temp peaks here in March so it won't be too hot for chicks or sitting on eggs.
  20. Not much happening, Lexi doesn't seem to be that interested in breeding. Every time Chubba Chubs goes to mount her ( that I've seen ), she goes upside-down under the perch. I'm thinking of pulling her out and putting Marigold in instead as she is coming into condition too.
  21. That's why it's in 'Memorium'
  22. WHY??!!! Why would you do that?! Domesticated budgies die when released, unless they are found by someone kinder than the one that let it go.
