That's a standard price. My vet's good, the first time i take a bird it's $50, and any time after that where i take the same bird it's about half that price.

I spotted him on their lost birds page and thought something looked a bit wrong with him. Glad he's got a wonderful home to live in now.

Have you called yet? Not sure why you are stalling as every minute you waste is potentially lessening the chance that your budgie will live. The fact that he is showing signs of illness so obviously (fluffed, vomitting) mean he is REALLY REALLY sick. He should've been to the vet on the first day you noticed he was fluffy.

The gel like appearance of the feathers above his head sounds like vomitting. This budgie needs to be separated from any other birds you have, put under a heat lamp, and you need to be on the phone making an appointment with an avian vet immediately. Do not wait. Tell the receptionist he is quiet, fluffed and vomitting - it will be treated as an emergency and they will make an effort to get you in sooner.
  5. Agreed - Blinkie does it to Bailee. Blinkie does it to Ozzie. Blinkie does it to Fizzy.....should i continue. :ausb:

Got probiotics to put them on for a week or so. She says they're looking very healthy and that if the probiotics don't help then i should bring them back for tests but she really didn't think they looked to bad! I've gotta keep them in separate cages for a few days so that i can see who's doing what poos. Blinkie will have 100% privacy to hump his perches in. :(Laughing out loud): Oz can have the blue cage and sit next to my desk. Tiels will get probiotics too, so hopefully everyone will be well soon. Blinkie was a little ratbag in the whole vet process! Put up a 10 min long fight not wanting to be caught and put in the little travel cage!! He's grown wise to my mirror trick and i ended up cornering him in the big cage. When the vet wanted to get Ozzie out (cause i said he was the one doing the runny poos) Blinkie kept jumping on her hand, (Laughing out loud)!!! He just didn't want to get off. She said it was a pleasure to see such tame and friendly budgies, (Laughing out loud). I think Blinkie won her over with his sexy charm.

No i didn't....and they've been off meds for a week - the runny poos have been happening a week... Where do you get them? The vet never mentioned a thing about them when we were there to pick up the meds. I will ask the vet i see today if they know anything about using them and if that could be the problem.

Wow!! Jangles doesn't look much bigger than Chipy! They're both gorgeous though!

I'm feeling that it's most likely that he's got a low immune system. Still, i don't know where he'd be getting exposed to bugs. Bailee's also doing runny poos so i'll see about getting treatment for them too. They only just came off the meds for psittacosis, it's a pain if i have to medicate them all again!
  16. Bea replied to Bea's post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
Yeah, they were all on the 6 week course of meds. I don't think it's the same thing, and like i said they're definitely not acting sick. I'm guessing it's a little gut bug or something. I wormed them a couple of days ago and all yesterday there was no runny poos, i thought i'd fixed it! But it's back again today, so we'll just wait and see i guess.

That's the stuff i use too. I've never had any problems using it.

For the past week one or both of the boys have been doing runny poos. There's been no weight loss, no loss of appetite, they play, etc but there have been some runny poos in the cage. When i get them both out and they're on the play gym i can watch them for hours and they'll do 100% normal poos. When they're in their cage i can watch and watch and watch - nothing but normal poos. I leave them alone for 10 mins, runny poos. As it's gone on for so long i've decided, much to dads disgust, that they should both go in for a check up. So they're booked in to the vets tomorrow afternoon. Not with the vet i would like though, hmph. I swear that the avian vet, Sandy Hume, is psychic and is on holiday whenever my birds get sick! But they're still going to see another of the vets at the practice, cause Sandy's away for 3 weeks and i don't think i'm happy to wait that long, (Laughing out loud). Watching them now i can see that it's Ozzie that's doing the runnies, he's just done two that i've seen are definitely his. But still, best to get them both checked. Ozzie really doesn't seem to be a very healthy bird. This is the 3rd time he's got sick in a little over a year that i've had him.

Just HAD to share this photo i got of Blinkie this arvo, (Laughing out loud)!! So that's what a budgies looks like when you slow down a mega feather fluff!! Also got a few other photos, no more funny ones though, just cute. :hap: Oz smiles for the camera Fizz posing nicely for a change, he's usually to hyper to sit still long enough for a photo!! My handsome boys (even though we have some mega moulting happening) And apparently i look like a bird stand! I love how Fizzy is marching on my head, hehehehe!
  23. That's awesome!! Will be interesting to see how similar they are when they're fully feathered!!
