Wing problem
I checked him just now and saw him stretch it out when he was stretching his leg so i hope that means it was just me being a worried mother! You said ONE of your birds stretched his wing around the girl when mating. I thought all budgies did this. :bluebudgie: All mine do anyway.

Wing problem
It kind of went twitchy. It just looked out of place. It was his clipped wing if that would have anything to do with it but i clipped his wing weeks ago and have had experience doing it.

My Budgies And More!
You're birds are all so pretty! :bluebudgie: Did you name your birds to start with and then stopped when you got too many or have you always not named your breeding birds??? I breed more for fun so all my 18 budgies have names. My friends are amazed i can remember them all! Also, you're aviary is gigantic!!!! I wish i had a massive garage sized aviary!!! Mine is big enough for me and a friend to stand in when we clean it but it's nothing compared to yours!!! I also wish i could have a proper breeding room!!! You have a fantastic set up!!!

Wing problem
Hi guys, Today when i put Blinkie back in his cage he did this really strange thing with his wings. It really scared me so i took him out. Once he was out the wing thing stopped. I thought he was acting. I've been really worried about it, i tried to check his wing but he wouldn't let me have a proper look. I couldn't straighten it without upsetting him. He can still fly just a far as ever but i'm still concerned. I would love to take him to the vet but dad will say there's nothing wrong and i don't have enough money to pay for a check up myself! :bluebudgie: Does anyone have any advice on what i could do? PS: I also weighed him to see if maybe his weight was down. He weighed 31grams which is up a couple of grams from a week ago.

My budgie's sick
I am really sorry about your loss. The sad thing is that budgies hide their illness until it's usually too late. I'm sure there was nothing else you could do.

Petting a budgie
I've been finding step up really useful lately!!! When Blinkie decides to fly to the other side of the room i just call "Come here Blinkie!" and when he comes over i say "up up" and he just jumps straight onto my finger. Saves me the trouble of chasing him around!!!

why does she do it
Do you let them out at the same time? If you do you could try letting them out at different times. Then they wouldn't be able to do anything about the other one getting more attention!

Perches
There's a big gum tree hanging over out washing line in the back yard. I get scared of the magpies that like to hang out in it. They give me scary looks!!! I've cut down all the low branches from the gum tree! So my budgies only get a branch on the rare occasion i can reach one!!!

budgie noises
It's true that heaps of the sounds sound the same but you can oftern tell why they're making the sounds because of whats happening around them.

Petting a budgie
Step up is a useful command but i understand how you feel. Blinkie sometimes steps onto my finger when i stroke his belly and it can be a bit annoying! It's just them trying to balance themselves when they step up after pressure is applied to their tummy. I really don't think there is a way to stop them doing this. But it is seriously a useful command for Cloudy to know.

I love how cute budgies look when they preen each other! Budgies are the cutest things!

Petting a budgie
Ginger may start to like being scratched when she becomes more tame. Maybe she thinks your trying to hurt her. But as you said, each budgie has their favourite spots. My first budgie Tweety hated being petted anywhere except her belly. Blinkie however loves to be hugged and kissed and stroked all over!

Cages
Try to get a recatangular cage. Horizontal bars are also good because it is easier for budgies to climb around.

Pet shop
I went to complain to the pet shop today and they still had some scruffy looking budgies. They said nothing was wrong with them but i'm not sure. Some definitely looked under weight. They seem to have sold or disposed of the plucked ones. I hope they haven't died. I don't think complaining did much to stop them selling un healthy birds.

Safely Catching Your Budgie
If you can fit both your hands in the cage it is much less stressful if you can corner the bird. The longer the chase the scarier the experience!

Pet shop
Yesterday when i went to on of the local pet shops to look at the budgies i found that the whole tank/cage was filled with baby budgies that were either plucked really badly or hadn't got all their feathers yet which i think means they're too young to be away from their parents. The pet shop was selling them for $35 (aust) which is about twice as much as you would pay from the other 2 local pet shops. I think it's disgusting that they accepted these budgies from someone and even worse that they're selling them. Some poor kid will come along and think how cute they are that they haven't got all their feathers yet and the bird will probably die in a couple of days of starvation!

Millit
Hmm, okay. Blinkie can strip a millit spray in about 15 minutes!!! I think he's trying to beat his personal best!!!

Millit
Hi, I have a question. Why is millit so tasty to a budgie? I mean, isn't it just seed?

my facts, the way I see it.
I totally agree. Most of my budgies prefer to hang out with other budgies and not me. I have Blinkie who is tame, Buzz who is evil and bites whenever you try to pat her then there's Gherkin who comes over to sing to me when i go in the aviary to feed them. He won't let me touch him though. All my other budgies are as good as wild! But i still love them all!!!
