English babies are much larger than normals, i know this because one of the local pet shops has baby show budgies and they're MUCH larger with poofier heads so I think they're normals and both females. They're very cute though!
  2. Well i hope Blinks decides that the cholla perch is not out to get him. He won't sit on it...i've hung his mirror above it but all that's achieved is an upside down budgie. If he'll sit on it i can poke stuff in it for him to find when i'm at school.
  3. It is possible to breed a black faced budgie, the topic has come up a few times here before. I'll try to find a photo for you: http://people.zeelandnet.nl/ptsmr/blackface.htm Not sure about an entirely black budgie but it might be possible.

Well i did win both games of chess but i can't tell if that was from Blinks help or Tim's lack of brains.
  5. I went to the pet shop to buy some MORE stuff for his royal highness, The Blink. I got him a cholla perch ($16!!!!!!!) and a little rop perch as well as some plastic veggie clips and the most hilarious plastic budgie i've ever seen....it's SOOOOO tiny!!! It was only $1 so i mainly brought that for my own amusement. :(Laughing out loud): Anyway, just when i had started getting some more money....i'm broke again! I'm very pleased with the cholla perch despite it's cost because it appears to have a SAFE stainless steel rod through it (Polly's Pet Products) and the lady at the pet shop pointed out that it's great for stuffing treats in the little holes to keep your birdy occupied! I never would have thought of that.
  6. Here's some photos of Blinkie that have been stuck on the camera for the last week or so. 'Helping' me play chess. Killing the evil little dude. Chess is boring.....onto annoying the human. Grooming Mickey Having a bath Nice and soaking wet!
  7. Ooohhh! So cute!
  8. In the last photo it almost looks like Doofus is just standing in the air.
  9. I'm relieved to not have to put up with mating noises at ridiculous hours in the morning anymore. Gherkin was a very vocal boy when he was doing his part of parenting. :(Laughing out loud): He had a very excited warbley sound he made. I hope that they've been mating in secret Nerwen! I soooo want to see Marine/Tootie babies.

I'd say girl because of all the white though the parts that are blue are much more bright than most baby girls ceres i've seen.
  11. I've also noticed that Blinks has his very own language compared to other budgies i've heard. Maybe it's the same as how all humans have different voices and ways of expressing themselves? I mean, dogs have different barks (i can pick Mickey's from a crowd ) so i guess budgies would be the same. :fear

    Great photos as usual!

I used to do it myself but now that i'm older for some reason i'm too scared to do it, luckily i haven't needed to do it in ages. If your budgies have pink toes it's VERY easy because you can clearly see where the little blood veiny thing stops and becomes just nail. I wouldn't trust myself with budgies that have dark feet because it's harder to see.

Awww! They're so little and pink! :hap:

    :hap: I love that photo!
  17. Looks normal to me. The spots are probably bits of seed or other foods.

I hope something can be done for him. He sounds like a real fighter to still be going.

How old are they? Most people start handling the chicks about 3 weeks when they begin getting their feathers. When you do start handling them don't keep them away from mum for more than 10 - 15mins.

We pay about $40 - $50 for the check up and then extra for any treatment we need to get or other stuff that needs doing.

I think if it's over several months (which from the dates you put it is) then it could be put down to the healthier diet and lifestyle. You should probably weigh her a couple of times a week to make sure she's not losing anymore weight. This is provided that there aren't any other syptoms of illness? (dirty bottom, runny poos, loss of appetite, fluffed up)

Well if you take the injured baby to the vet when he's older you can also get the vet to show you how to give a good wing clip. :budgiedance: Like Nerwen said, i have quite a few budgies who are missing toes (from my attempts at colony breeding) and they're perfectly happy. One only has one full toe left and she manages to get around perfectly. Budgies are extremely adaptable.

WOW!! You're so lucky! :dbb1: I wish i could have giant aviarys like that.

You can also look in pet shops for sales. I got Blinkie's cage for $40 expecting to have to pay around $60 - $70 because that particular design was finishing.
  25. Oh yay!! I hope we'll see little baby Marines and Tooties soon!
