  1. Can you stop a hen from laying any more eggs? Someone I know has a hen that has laid 20 eggs already and they don't want her to lay more as, as we all know that is a lot of eggs. So can you stop them?
  2. I would say a hen too. But who cares she is so darn vibrant and beautiful!
  3. Welcome to the site, I hope that what you need to find is on here, everyone is very welcoming on here and always polite. So once again WELCOME!!
  4. I don't think there is much more you could have done, I had the same experience except mine got sick on the last day and that's when I noticed, so I kept him safe and warm, but later saw him vomit and sneezing, couldn't get hi. Into the vet until the next day and he died at midnight in my hands, I tried everything. (And I swear he said hello Charlie, Charlie being his name for the first time before he passed) it was sooooo sad, I felt responsible too, but it isn't your fault.
  5. Is it okay with any admin to do a facebook page up for this website? I have tried to reach KAZ but nothing has happened yet.
  6. Front views would make it easier to determine.
  7. Congrats, just ensure that you keep an eye on them regularly, as 6 chicks can be an extremely heavy burden on the parents, lettalone 7.
  8. Welcome, You have some very beautiful budgies.
  9. Lol, that is pretty interesting, mine have never done that before!
  10. Hi Welly123, this is a link on how to upload photos, if this doesn't help you, you can personal message me and I can help you. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=rules&f=83
  11. To add a photo to the forum use this address: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=rules&f=83 (sorry i didn't have any time to make the links into photos) Well, it sounds like at first that the females are getting brown around their nose or cere because they are coming into breeding condition. When this occurs, the female gets a brown chocolate colour on their cere, the males will receive a blue on the cere too. But at a second thought, it could also be scale. Look at this picture and tell me if it looks like this or not? this is scale getting bad. http://www.budgerigar.net.au/budgerigar_pics/Scaly-Face-Budgie.jpg http://www.azexoticbirdrescue.org/uploads/6/1/0/6/6106264/6199812.jpg or is it like this? https://ladygouldian.com/files/Skye%20Beak%20Shot.JPG
  12. For the first pair, mine have been known to do that, I don't know why they do it, but they just sometimes split them up, all of them hatched within a day or two of eachother. For the second pair, the female may have know that the egg was not fertile and got rid of it and decided to lay more. I would say that both of these instances are normal.
  13. She may have been showing her dominance to him, however i am not sure that this happens with birds.
  14. I only need the genetics, or mutations advice for the first and third pictures. But I need the sex / gender for each one. They are only about 1 1/2 months old. 1. http://i1283.photobu...zps275f226d.jpg 2. http://i1283.photobu...zpsec5039a9.jpg 3. Thanks.
  15. Consider how much time you will have, you need time, time, time, time. But u sound like you have everything down pat so I think your right, just don't breed any budgies under 9 months probably even under 12 months is too risky.
  16. I have used almost exactly the same. I have the feeding dishes that somehow spin out so you dont have to open any doors, and a storage shelf below it. Only thing is that those cages are closed in on sides and back, it could get hot not allowing wind circulation as much, depends on where you live i suppose.
  17. Green, perhaps even blue.
  18. Wow, it is beautiful! however not many people that are posting at the moment to my knowledge aren't the best at mutations, said so themselves, so you may need to personal message one of the people that may be more experienced.
  19. to my knowledge, they are not. A double factor affects the colour of the face and the body colours, whereas the yellow face only changes the face colour. However i may be wrong. Anyone else?
  20. I agree, budgies are amazing creatures, a really good video is of a man and his budgies at a restaurant where they shows plays while eating, and he was just amazing with what he did with those birds.
  21. Television
  22. Have you heard anything? I hope you find the little fella.
  23. How is he today? I am not sure what else you can do =(
  24. Ensure that you have that bird in a different cage away from the others, so in case it spreads, i don't know if it can or not. Did the vet take a crop sample? How is the crop problem diagnosed? A sample is taken from the crop and examined under the microscope to look for fungi or other parasites. Special staining of the crop sample is also necessary to determine the presence of harmful bacteria. In some cases, a culture and sensitivity laboratory test may also need to be performed to determine exactly which type of bacteria is present and the drug/s to which it is sensitive. Blood tests or xrays may also be needed to detect the underlying cause eg heavy metal poisoning, kidney disease. What is the treatment? Treatment may involve antibiotics, anti-parasitic drugs, anti-fungal drugs, change in husbandry (eg temperature of food given to young birds) or just symptomatic treatment for the birds with suspected viral diseases. In severe cases your bird will need to stay in hospital for several days while it is stabilised and fluids and nutritional supplements administered. Not sure if that helps or not?
