Zero Romance, Zero Breeding
The birds might not be in breeding condition. They do not breed just because of diet and the cage. You can tell of their condition by the colour of their cere. If you can post a picture someone can advise you if they a ready to breed or not.

New Cage/aviary
I would really love a yellow face cobalt, that's my dream. The YF grey facing the camera was my first show chick I had hatch and she is about 4 months old, her mother who's the same has her back to us at the top. Next to her is her 3 month old sister who is a YF Opaline grey spangle and the pinkies are also siblings fostered out because she was a hopeless mother (I didn't think that the older one would last 24hrs).

New Cage/aviary
Here are my birds. I have pet and show type This is my old guy, I've had him for years but he's not in the best of health. He is loving the sun and has claimed his spot. and I thought I'd show off my little pinkies that are in the cabinets you can see in the aviary

New Cage/aviary
Thank you Robyn, they are loving it! Their flight space has almost doubled. I just have to make some new perches.

Mixie And Lady
she probably has fed them in the last 24hrs but they do start to get more demanding and often I find my chicks with emty crops then I go back later and they have been fed. Is the male feeding her properly? It might be a good idea to put some millet or a handfull of seed in the box to help her so she is getting enough food for her and the chicks. Don't panic she has been doing a good job so far

Well done!! I can't believe the difference in the way she looks. You can see she feels better just by the way she is standing with her head up and looking much happier

New Member & New Mommy
Hi and welcome to the forum With nesting material I use oats (like you would have for breakfast) when the babies arrive because it is soft, absorbent, easy to clean out and it's cheap. Then when the babies are about 3 weeks old I start to add some seed and they start learning to eat it while they are in the nest which makes it easier when they leave the nest.

Ouch!
Well, news one of the embryos was addled but I can still see veins and movement of the other. I wonder if that is what happened to yours rachelm and that is why they died at such different stages. It will interesting to see if the one left survives to hatching.

Egg
I have just started giving egg to my birds and they LOVE it. I boil it for about 30 minutes (that's what I've read to do) and they eat the whole lot shell and all mashed up finely. It's high in protein and the shell is for calcium

B.j's Step By Step To Easy Bird Bonding
Hi Jane90, Is this the bird you just purchased? It can take a little while to settle in and often don't eat due to stress from the move to a new house. I would give it a few days and everything should be fine to start B.Js training once it has settled

Ouch!
The egg is fertile and now I have mixed emotions knowing what is probably going to happen

Kathryn's Breeding Journal
As Jenny said the majority of them do grow back and even if they don't they learn to adjust. I had one (he past away last week) who had no flights or tail and he lived in my aviary and he used to sit up on the perches with everyone else. The only thing he had different was I made a ladder so he could get to the wire if he was on the floor and he would just climb up. Sorry I feel like I'm giving worst case but I just want you to know that the birds will be fine either way

L__J - 2013
Hi L_J, Mrs Teddy might of laid that first egg off the perch instead of in the nest box, they sometimes do this if they are inexperienced (i watched one of my hens do it yesterday with her first egg)
-
Mixie And Lady
Don't panic. It depends when she started to sit on the eggs, it's around 18-21 days and some people say up to 23 days

What Are My Budgies?
Just to add if you do take better photos make sure you get one of his back so we can see the wings and rump colour

Kathryn's Breeding Journal
Sorry to hear that. Have you got any pictures? because if the mother was pulling feathers, the chicks might copy and do the same to each other. My young ones still pull on the other birds feathers, even on the older birds like it is a game (until someone gets bitten). If it is you need to move them as far away from the other nests as possible A.S.A.P and make sure you don't cross contaminate with the other birds e.g washing hands bowls etc.

Ouch!
Wow, what a shame, the older one looks like it was only a few days from hatching. Great photo
