  1. Looks great. I love the tiles. That would be easier to mop and disinfect than just concrete. It also makes it look 'homely'.
  2. AWWW. Very cute
  3. Cute. I like your 'red faced' variety.

It is pre-prgrammed in your brain! There are some things your brain can't handle. TRY THIS........ 1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles. 2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your food will change direction. No matter how many times you try there's nothing you can do about it.
  6. Couldnt have said it better. All my careful thinking and explaining, only to hear its a colony setting bwahaha I learned a lot from your explanation.
  7. I would like to go for a look next year.
  8. Can i take a guess? 1. Male 2. Female 3. Female
  9. I got my fussy eaters to eat baby spinach and silverbeet first. They would only nibble it if it was hung up above a perch on side of cage. Then i used a vegetable peeler to make ribbons of carrot, which i also hung up and they eat that now too. Good luck
  10. If you bred 2 YF2 would you get 100% normal (WF)? What about 2 goldenfaces? If you bred 2x the results are as i mentioned above (highlighted in red). Yellowface type 2 and goldenface are both incomplete dominants as they are different visually in the single and double factor form. With any incomplete dominant paired to an incomplete dominant (both single factors) you get 25% normal, 50% single factor, 25% double factor. Cheers thank you for the information
  11. GB that is a beautiful story. I have tears in my eyes.
  12. Parents are gorgeous :hap: I love the light green opalines. Will all the babies be light green opalines? If they are lacewings what colour will they be? (sorry for asking dumb questions )
  13. My interest came recently, when a friend of mine decided to start breeding budgies. She had set up a small aviary with 4 pairs and 5 breeding boxes (colony breeding). She didn't have a clue about how many eggs, incubation period etc. She doesn't have the internet so i offered to do some research for her. Instantly i became fascinated. My mum had two empty nice sized aviaries that she said i could have and its started from there. Yesterday i bought a second hand 6x3 meter shed to start building my bird room. I hope to start breeding at the end of July. Can't wait.
  14. I wish i had of come up with a better user name. Mine is boring, just my name and the first initial of my last name
  15. If you bred 2 YF2 would you get 100% normal (WF)? What about 2 goldenfaces?
  16. Nice to meet you Brucies Mum
  17. classic!!!
  18. Sounds like you are making progress. What time of day are you doing training with Molly? I ask because you might have some luck in the early evening when birds are naturally quieter. Just a thought. I suppose all you can do is persevere and be patient (hard to do sometimes). Best of luck to you and Molly.
  19. Both good looking birds
  20. I think the DF dom pied versus combination pied argument is a little tricky to resolve! The following pics are my birds that are combo pied (parents dom pied and rec pied). Note their similiarity to Kaz's DF dom pieds....... I have a couple more exactly the same. SJW interesting
  21. Hi Patrick, I'm enjoying reading your breeding journal and loving the photos to.
  22. So far MICE. I have an old aviary with a couple of tiny gaps where they were getting in. All fixed now and no sign of mice for a while now. I also have a live trap inside aviary.
  23. They are all so beautiful Will you breed with Maggie again?
  24. I didn't know you could AI a budgie? I have learnt something else today. Brumbyracer best of luck with YF hen. Please keep us posted.
  25. Cool thank you GB, i appreciate your reply. So to get best results, listen to the birds and they will let you know when they want to breed I only have one 'pair' that have been smooching since i got them. All the others have a different friend every week I'm very excited about breeding birds and i will probably be impatient first time round, so its good to know how long before first egg arrives
