Hills Auction - 2010
Dont get me wrong , there is nothing wrong with old birds . But for me Its the balance against price / possible productivity and features involved. Some people are prepared to pay alot for a possible small return or none at all . Hens , There always a ?, arent they Jeff. Im happy with my new Outcross.

Hills Auction - 2010

2010 Nationals
okay I have teased you a little bit...... I could be totally wrong on this but from what I understand is 2 years of 3 birds being benched. Followed by a further trial of only two birds going for the ride. There is a possibilty that only one will score points. This is to be worked out. Further, and this could be a good thing the powers that be have set up a sub committtee to explore whether we should add further classes when only two birds are sent. My thoughts would be Violets, Dilutes, Olive/Dark Greens and Cobalts/Mauves. That will shake you all up LOL , Jeff , I reckon you would be a good fisherman, always giving a little bit of line before you strike!!

2010 Nationals
Thanks Jeff, Good explanation Daryl, Ive been asking about this since I joined back in the hobby , Reason being , after every Nationals the same questions and fingers get pointed around, Unfortunatly the carrers cop the flack and these people are the ones putting in their time and effort .We should be assisting them, benching the third bird will help. I hope this will go through. My only other beef ( yeah I can hear you ) I think we should drop the Hens class, Hens of today are mixing it with the cocks on the top shelf so I dont see the relevance of this class . This can make way for Extra boxes and reduce costs. Or , wait for it . Introduce a new Variety as a national class , now I dont mean Suffused or dilutes ( Thats another arguement/discussion ) , But maybe the Saddleback , its a relative new variety and one that I believe should not be let disappear. My thoughts , for what there worth.

Break It To Me Gently
This is a picture of the first FD I have ever bred ,4 weeks old, Ive bred budgies for over 15 years. This bird I bred about 12 months ago. The split mask is one feature that will give it away as the chick matures in the box. This chick is the second FD Ive bred, 6 weeks old , photo taken today. No relation to the bird bred last year. Pairing was Normal to Fallow.

2010 Nationals
Hi Heathrow, I find your comment interesting as I too dont believe that increasing the perch size will make the birds grip better. Personally I think a smaller perch would make them grip better, If you put a tree branch in your aviary the birds will all want to be on the end where the branch is at its smallest. As you say time will tell . Maybe hang onto the old perches just in case we revert back.

Bsnsw Kk Auction
Hi Troy , Its a small world when your a net surfer, KK like all big breeders have there crackers in the closet and bring them out on the big days. There is a cracker of a spangle in the NSW Team sometimes birds just pick themselves.

Bsnsw Kk Auction
Matt, do you think the KK birds, have lost there appeal, I dont know about Lost appeal , But I think the best/better are still in the aviary in SA. You can always fly down and see him and buy straight from the aviary.

Bsnsw Kk Auction
Can I just say to anyone seriously looking at buying from this auction to be mindful that the birds are coming from South Australia . A much different climate to the east states and to WA . These birds will need plenty of time to adjust when you get them and alot of work to build condition before breeding . My opinion ! But for the Novice breeder something to consider.

Dead Baby

Pet Care And Feeding.......then And Now
Yep its BS, If your children didnt eat their dinner would you force them to eat it , which would probably make them throw up . I dont think so. You would give them what they like and be happy they are eating something. Offer a variety and she will eat what she likes. Dont fall for the guilt trip.

Pet Care And Feeding.......then And Now
Our world has too much information now and everyone says this and that , Go back 50 years and noone had any probs with dogs and cats , birds , even ourselves. We over complicate things , Keep it simple and easy . There your dogs arent they? , Do what you like!

Can Someone Tell Me What You Call These Breeds?
3. These are some more that have hatched recently, are these Lacewings? 4. This is the father of the above, is he a Clearwing? Thank you and I hope someone is able to answer my queries! As Kaz said he is a greywing , and the chicks in the photos above are greywings also, This means the mother is greywing or split greywing. Greywing is a recessive gene.

Can We Get Blue Yf Offsprings From Normal Pairing
If you want to breed Yellow faces , go out and buy a yellow face bird then breed with it , You will then get yellow faces .
-
Attacked Chick.
Go out and buy yourself some millet sprays and put some in the box and also some on the floor of the cabinet, the chicks will pick at them and also dad will eat it and feed the young the same seeds, this will help in the transition from dad feeding to the chicks eating on their own. I have had two chicks come out of the box today and I witnessed them eating from the seed jar tonight, It does help them find the food.

Cayenne Pepper With Fatty Liver !?
Dont always believe what you find around on the Net , You have done the right thing and asked for a second opinion, Barrie has gotten himself into plenty of trouble before over things on the net . Cayenne Pepper is a Hot spice , Same Family as the Chilli . I cook with it and would doubt that the birds would eat it naturally. Best to feed the bird less and more exercise to reduce the birds weight rather than to resorting to potions.
-
Show Budgie Combinations
He has to go in the recessive pied class as that is the right class. The judges should judge the bird first , so if this bird was the best type in size , outline, Etc he should win . My guess as to why you would put spangle into recessives would be to increase size , then cross back to a recessive hen and hope you breed some normal recessives.
