Worried About Feeding Times
wow, like i said in a forum post a few hours ago...never trust pet shops....EVER, and like kaz said, their all about the $$$ its also the breeder's fault for doing such a silly thing for selling a 2 week old chick to a pet shop of all places.

Limit To How Many Words They Learn?
Their isnt really a limit as to how much your budgie can talk, just make sure when your teaching him the word, that you stick with the 1 word and not try others, otherwise you will confuse him once he learns the new word, move on to a different one Fixed shortcuts. Please use proper english as shortcuts such as u are not allowed.

Introducing Ben!
I've said this quite a few times in my days.... never trust a pet shop, they will do all and everything to get a sale and make money.....and they no jack **** about birds, i remember i went to buy my crimson wing olive and lutino yellow split yesterday and the petshop said "the lutino is a male" ...it had a brown cere....i told him it is a in-season female, and that he should have known this being a petshop owner... so theirs a good example of pet shop owners....in it for the money and not the experience and joy of birds...

its a little bottle called "AristoPET" ....says for scaly face and mites on the face as well as legs etc ... been 1 day and it seems to work already, most of the chunky mites on his leg are gone and his face mites are halved...so another week of treatment and he will be fine, plus i gotta do it again another week later, to kill leftover organisms....he's 9 years old though, so its to be expected....he was born 19/4/00 so i dont know much hes got in him left lol....

indeed, my skyblue tame budgie had scaly face yesterday, so ive taken him out and put him in a hospital cage and dabbed the scaly face treatment on the infected area's, he had it mostly on his feet

im a bit dry on the cash at the moment, so i cannot afford another aviary, as for the hen's, this is their first clutch, all my hen birds are 2-3 years old, and my white albino is a bit younger, about 9 months, but other then that, 3/4 of my budgies are show budgies and are of mature age, so they should mate up nicely...

Lol, yup, and besides, i love watching them fly about and actually have room to play, mate, and excersice..... and the best part about colony breeding, is even if the hen was a opaline, the babies could be lutino's yellows or any color for that matter, as a number of males tend to get a bargain with the 1 henbird A number of cocks to one hen eh..? Sounds very interesting. Perhaps with colony breeding one should have a "recovery cage" for hard working hens? its all equal, 10 males to 10 females....they were paired up beforehand ....ive noticed a few times males have interrupted my lutino yellow and voilet split mating, but apart from that, ive only had 1 henbird die, but that was unknown cause, she layed 8 eggs for a clutch, and the next morning i found her dead stiff on the floor of the aviary with no injurys and such....think she may have starved herself or became eggbound, not too sure, my guess is she had drained all she had into looking after the eggs and just died

I agree the colony set up is quite good. Nest boxes may be a little close together. I used to colony breed also. Will it do any Harm to put nest boxes on a different height?

i tried that once, had 10 cabinets all paired up, they were in their for about 3-4 months....they were paired up beforehand and not one of them was interested in the boxes im still having success in the aviary's though, pairs have eggs and are sitting them with no problems....

Sick Budgee, Light Green Droppings
KAZ is right, theirs not much you can do apart from keeping him as warm as possible and calling a vet ASAP.... its most likely he has become sick from the spare water feeder, if it has sprouted seed in it.... hope everything go's well

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting some more yellow splits, and some yellowfaces to put in there, only trouble is its hard having to put more boxes in there, as you can see its already crammed with them, i was thinking of putting some up on a higher level maybe....maybe you might have some idea's :mallet:

Introducing Myself, And My Beautiful Budgies
Hi their, my names matt, im 18 years old, ive been breeding budgies since i was a lil kid, i have 10 pairs of budgies in a colony bred aviary, 5 pairs have got nests, with 4 eggs, 5 eggs, 4 eggs, 7 eggs and 6 eggs in each box, i have a variety including english showbirds, and the australian budgie, i have opaline's, albino whites, lutino yellows, as well some some olives, crimson wing light green, as well as yellowface opalines and skyblue crimson wings basically i have ALOT of different colours, i also breed 3 pairs of cockatiels, 1 box has 4 youngens, and the other box has 5 eggs which the first is due to hatch in a few days.... i also breed 2 sets of king quail, 1 pair is rearing 8 youngens at the moment, and the other pair are still laying (6 at the moment) and i also have 2 pairs of grassparrot, not much success with them yet and i also have 1 pair of red collar lorikeets, havent had much success with them either, but other then that i always have great results with my budgies and cockatiels, and quail's, and they have taught me alot about the bird world
