These are some pics of 2nd round chicks for this pair. 1 missed chick. gremlins in my computer again!!! 1 more missed. makig 9 for nest.
  2. This is all a bit out of my league Finnie, I have copied your last comments for future ref. I know his cinn are all hens as they are visible cinn. I would have to check first clutch, I did on sell some of them because they were all cocks, I am short of hens. Well I was now I know I have at least 5 sky cinn's. I'll try to add this last clutch pics onto my post on first clutch pics. To try for the lace wing gene? would it matter if it was cinn green series or blue cinn?
  3. This fellow is also split cinn. as he has some sky blue cinn. in clutch. ( 2 in last clutch.) plus pied, 1 spangle and normals.
  4. May I change to DOM PIED I think he has Iris rings.
  5. Looks like you have a good variety of birds there.
  6. complete stab in the dark. Y.Face Cobalt clear flight rec. pied? (trying to get my head around genetics.)

Hi Jen, welcome. Sounds like you have everything under control. They may bicker a bit until they decide the "pecking order". They don't need mirrors, (they do their heads in) is a phrase used on here. A spray of millet now and then would probably be a hit. They love outdoor's and need some sun for vit d.
  8. Hope things improve for you soon. Even though you put the "healthy" birds in new cage, they may still have been infected but not shown it until later. Touch wood !!! I have never had this infection and hope I never do, sounds devastating.
  9. Sorry you lost Ferdinand Tania, it's probably worse to lose a F.D. as you would have so much more interaction with them. Compared to normal aviary birds that is. :(
  10. Well at least you tried, that's all you can do really. Good on you for reporting it anyway, somebody may decide to keep an eye out in the future.
  11. Great, that confirms my Cock bird is split cinn. also
  12. Thank's B.H.D. So that means my Albino is a hen. Finally got one worked out.
  13. Hi all, Paired these two who had 9 chicks one of which is Albino. Trying to grasp mutations, I thought that as hens can't be split for sex linked mutations, which my info says Albino's are, am I right to think the Albino must be from Cock being split Albino. Could he throw an albino with any other hen? If this is right. They have gone on to a 9 chicks 2nd round. No albino's this round though.
  14. Hi, just trying to get MY heard around mutations but if she produced cinn chicks and she's not visually cinn. The cinn would be from the Cock as hens can't be split sex linked. Is that right or am I still wallowing?
  15. Just caught up Kaz, sorry about Jumbo but we knew it was a case of when not if. Sad just the same.
  16. Why not report them to the relevent authority in your town, e.g. r.s.p.c.a and get them to check out the store?
  17. I'd try the pet shop,( if it's a good one) any pet shop with any experience will know they aren't babies. Someone with an aviary may get a season of breeding from them if they are in good health and reasonable birds.
  18. These "little" birds make you feel really protective of them don't they. Sure whatever happens it will be in chicks best interest.
  19. Hi Stevie, all way over my head but looks very pretty. Can we see more pics as it colours up more, please?
  20. Glad to hear he's on the mend.
  21. Welcome Judd, I've got one just like your 4th called Piedy.
  22. Interesting though. Glad we don't have them here, if they got into an aviary I don't suppose they would just stop at the eggs if they are that vicious.
  23. Well I suppose it's the old case of "If in doubt, leave it out". Surely you will be able to get some unaffected leaves and branch's a bit later on when the tree produces new growth.
  24. Looks like a well built aviary. Geb, hope your birds love it. One question though, we don't have racoons here in Oz, only know what we see on t.v etc Wouldn't they still climb up onto your railing say, to still scare birds? Do they also hunt for eggs?
  25. If you go to F.A.Q. at top of site. Under Budgerigar breeding you will find answers to all your questions.
