  1. Thanks GB :hi: I wouldn't say GF, it is a buttery colour.
  2. I agree with this, when I looked closer I saw it has a light butter yellow tint. Then I wonder, is there any chance his feather are reflecting of the yellow of the wall behind him?
  3. I find most of my birds are actually finer feathered, but I heard some weird things with feathering, like putting two buff birds gets you fine feathered birds?
  4. That is true, they do. I also like that pairing because my birds are quite fine feathered, and in the "ideal" budgerigar, isn't the feathering meant to be "buffer"?
  5. Thankyou Sunnie! I forgot to mention, all of these birds are the same birds. So I only have one lutino hen, one grey cock etc. So there are quite a few double ups. The only birds I have that are the same colour are the opaline. light green cock birds (A and I go with gut feeling also Yes, these are only pictures, which make it alot more difficult! Thanks guys for your input, I am sure some people will be able to learn from this topic, I know I will! So far I have 4 cabinets to fill. Pair 5: Lutino X Cock A Pair 6: Sky Cock X Violet TCB Hen And not sure but I am thinking. Pair 3: Albino X TCB Grey? Pair 7 Hen with Cock B? That is what I have tried to summarise from you guys posts
  6. Today I cleared my aviary out, and I paired some of my Texas Clearbody's up. I seperated all inos, clearbodies and normals. I then juggled different birds around in different show cages. In the end I decided on pair 5 and pair 7 . Just wondering if you guys thought this was the best choice, and if you guys see any pairing's I have missed that may have potential I have all of these noted down to try next season, or hopefully end of this round. Because I have another two cabinets to fill, I would like you guys to help me choose the other two pairs that have the most potential. I like pair 6 or pair 9, obviously not at the same time Would be great if all of you guys could help me out Now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind seeing "Cock A" from pair 5 with the violet opaline clearbody. I may need to add a picture of that... If any one wants mor epcitures just ask Pair 1: Grey Cock X Grey-Green Hen Pair 2:Grey Cock X Albino Pair 3:TCB Grey Cock X Albino Pair 4: Lutino hen X Grey TCB Cock Pair 5: Lutino Hen to Cock A (right) or Cock B (left) Same cocks as above, cock A on right and Cock B on left. Pair 6: TCB Opaline Violet X Sky Blue Cock ( I am hoping to try this soon, I need to make sure I have lots of nests availible to foster though, hen is a chick killer) Pair 7: Sky Cock X Grey-Green TCB Pair 8: Grey Green Hen X TCB Opaline Grey-Green Pair 9: Grey Green Hen X Sky Cock ( another pair I quite like) Also here is a pair of recessives I am trying, out, I just felt like sharing Cock is split. Just a couple shots of group:
  7. I agree with jen but the top bird is a blue. OOps sorry it was just my monitor being silly.
  8. Not that I am an expert at sicknesses, but what about commercial brands of mite and lice spray? My bird had them (I think... Little brown squirmy things) and I sprayed him with Avian Science I think it was called, and they were gone within a week? I literally had to drench him haha. when you talk about frontline nubbly, do you mean the stuff we use on cats and dogs?
  9. Hi and Welcome! We would love to see some pictures of your Silly and Billy
  10. Could you explain the symptons at all? Was she looked fluffed up, was she skinny, any discharge or blood from mouth? We need more information
  11. Chubba Chubs has a green tail. In the picture Kaz showed, it was of another member who's hen looked like she had a green tail. It was only the flash though, and her tail is actually blue. Ratzy is going to try and put Chubba Chubs back to his mother, in the hope that she will be able to get some more green tailed chicks. But she is also letting Chubba Chubs have his own clutch with another of Ratzy's hens.
  12. Yay for pinkies! He is stunning, hopefully some real nice chicks! (from all the pairs) I can't wait to see them feather up!
  13. Somtimes maiden hens just lay really big long eggs for the first time. It may be a double yolker, most likley not as they are more circle shaped. Look nice Rach! She will settle soon hopefully.
  14. No, He is a he So this chick isn't just a "ripper" ? Darn, I thought the cock bird must have some super genes in him I am not really familliar with the term long flighted?
  15. Thankyou finnie. Yes i meant to say infertile
  16. yeah that one is the one that is not fertile. Hopefully the other four hatch. hatch.
  17. Just thought i would mention i dont actually know the chicks age. age.
  18. Gorgeous chicks from Donovan and Finnie! The others are all beautiful as well!
  19. I know some people give their birds bottled water, because of nasties that may be in towns water. My birds get rainwater from our tank, just because that is the closest tap. Maybe you should try rain/bottled water?
  20. No more pinkies today. There appears to be one fertile egg (closest top right to oldest chick) so maybe that was the one that was meant to hatch today.
  21. I had a hen that had a single chick in nest, and I went out there at night to find the chick died of yellow belly. One egg was in the nest still though, but it was way past it's due date. I removed the hen and cock and put them in a holding cage overnight to be released in the morning. Turns out that the egg pipped overnight. I numbered my eggs, 1-7 (5 infertile so they were chucked) . I thought it was egg one, way past due date but it turned out it was egg 7. Chick inside died because of a cold nest and no mum.
