  1. YOu are doing a fantastic job Kaz, I would offer to help but I live a few days travel away! The aviary looks fantastic. The only thing I could think to suggest is buying cheap pavers from your local dump, and laying them on the ground?

I am natrually a light mousy brown, but I have had my hair blond dyed before. (And yes, I am quite intelligent!) I think there is a difference between a blond haird person and a "blonde" person if you get what I mean.
  3. Is it possible that combination peids develop iris rings? I have a cock very similar to your hen, and I first thought rec. Pied. But he has now developed iris rings. He has the pink cere though?
  4. You could ask, "I am interested in buying the bird, do you mind if I just hold it to see if it is skinny or unhealthy?" Maybe.... Also, if you were going to purchase any bird, I would go for the sky blue hen.
  5. I agree with Dave, He is a violet bird. He is gorgeous! I love the violet and white contrast.
  6. Sad thing is it will need to be kept in captivity now
  7. Just letting you guya know i am not ignoring the post, I have read through and will reply tomorrow, as I am on my phone right now.
  8. Throwing eggs is better then dead chicks in the nest because of heat.
  9. Throw the eggs away.
  10. okay, well probably not queensland. Just right now in the drier states it is breeding season, witch temperatures up to 38c. (but dry) Throw your birds eggs away, and then only if they have mites treating them. As already mentioned by KAZ, It is purely coincidenc it happened last time..
  11. Where are you located, It isn't to hot to breed? Right now is the perfect time of the year in some states. I can't help you witht he eggs and mites, but just because it is hot it doesnt mean you birds will get mites.
  12. Yes it is possible. It depends on the nature of the birds though. Are all of your birds breeding, or only a selected few?
  13. Awwww He is adorable...Such a big grown up boy
  14. Osman, You have been advised not to breed numerous times now. Please stop breeding your birds and RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! Research is a major part in breeding, and you should have done it before you started breeding. As already advised, any untreated wood is fine.
  15. How many budgies do you have?! My aviary birds get a whole one every month or two, and I have 40 birds!
  16. I would throw some more natrual perches in and ditch most of the dowel Can't reply heaps right now, as I am on my phone, i am sure others will help though
  17. Where abouts in Adelaide do you live? I know a few avian vets down there. I hope your bub recovers It is quite upsetting when they get hurt.
  18. It is a spangle, but I think it is also opaline because that pattern occurs in the wings when I have opaline and spangle. I think it has to do with opaline putting body colour in the wings, then the spangle reversing it?
  19. I am fairly sure you get half dominant pieds and half normals all split rec. pied.
  20. Hi Zebette Yes that is the cage I was talking about. I have housed two birds in it comfortably. I would also check out Gem Birds, and Graham Hackindorfs. Most of them have contact info in the Saturday Advertiser. Try eBay as well, they have good offers if you get it at the right time.
  21. Just thought I would mention you can get those cages at cheap as chips for $20 ( or was it 30?)
  22. Just thought I would say those opalines have gorgeous markings! As clear as glass. Your very lucky. As for the violet hen, I think you should put her to the first cock bird.
  23. Avoiding pet shops is good. I can fix you up with a bird if you like, I will be getting some chicks soon. As for questions, it depends on the question For example cages would be in housing section, Food would be in the Nutrition and Feed section etc.
  24. Welcome to the forum! I am from South Australia to. I live in the Adelaide Hills. Budgies make great pets, and this is a great site to learn from! Not many on here are from SA, but some others that come on regularly are Liv and Sunnie. We are all part of a club in town, and we all breed and show budgies.
  25. He is gorgeous!
