A Little Help Needed With These, Kinda Overwhelmed Lol
first looks to be rec. pied. in the second picture it goes, YF Grey Spangle, Violet Spangle and grey cinnamon (opaline?). Third picture looks like a grey-green spangle to the right, and a light green spangle opaline in front. The last is of a TCB Opaline Light Green. Whoever clipped their wings did a horrid job! I am glad you bought all you birdies, having an aviary is fun fun fun!

Violet X Phantom
Well, the cinnamon is not there because the combination of the spangle and opaline would block it out. But the cinnamon is most definetley not in Dad, I have had at least 20 chicks from him and never had a cin. hen. BUT, I did unfortuntley split the pair up today. Violet went into a crazy moult, almost overnight. I was hoping that because she was in condition, be she was just a late moulter. On an incredibly bright note, Guess what I found out today!?!? As previously mentioned, I put Phantom's father to Phantom's normal mate ( a grey spangle hen). I was just expecting a pretty little DF Spangles, and YF greys/Blues, so when this little chick popped up, I assumed it was a lil DF Spangle, hense the white down. But, take a closer look.... A Pied chicken! Which means both parents are split rec. pied! aka, Phantom's father. Which means Phantom has a 50% chance of being split pied.... and if he is and him and Violet have chicks, I will have some absolutley stunning pied's galloping around!

Violet X Phantom
Phantom: Yellowface DF Violet Sky Spangle Opaline Cinnamon Father - YF Sky Blue Opaline Spangle Mother - DF Violet Spangle Opaline Cinnamon Phantom's Mother was a cinnamon, so all of the cock's would be split cinnamon. Both birds are opaline. As only light factor birds were involved, then Phantom can only be violet sky, correct? The parents have both only produced sky violet's, and like the dad. (I am unsure fi he is YF1 or 2) I am guessing the hen was cinnamon, I could not see ti visually but Phantom has produced cinnamon chick's in his clutches (hens) , meaning he is split cinnamon. So I assumed it was from mum, her body was also quite diluted from it. Here are some pictures of the family Parents Phantom Clutch mates (sky violet, sky violet opaline, yf violet sky spangle, yf sky blue spangle opaline (lime green colour) and Phantom himself.)

First Breeding Journal
How did you apply it, and what size are the birds ? The drop of ivermectin is rated to dose an average 30 gram bird. Some people apply it using a cotton bud. In my opinion using a cotton bud means most of the dose stays in the cotton bud. I applied ti to two of my show budgies, and I used a syringe. I lifted the feathers at the back of the neck, and my dad let a drop form on the end of the syringe, then gently shook it to make the drop fall onto the skin. Again I ask Squeak.........how big are your birds. If larger than the 30 gram bird they will need two drops. I didn't weigh them, I would guess over 30 though. Sorry, thought you meant breedwise. Should I reapply one more drop them?? Sorry for the thread hijack maddy!

Violet X Phantom
I just felt like starting another breeidng journal I put two pet types down, and I am dying to see their colours! These two have never gone down together, and Phantom has been chasing this little girl I bred last year around for the past month. I put Phantom's regular mate down to his father. Lineage - Phantom: Yellowface DF Violet Sky Spangle Opaline Cinnamon Father - YF Sky Blue Opaline Spangle Mother - DF Violet Spangle Opaline Cinnamon Violet - DF violet /rec.pied and maybe fallow Father - DF Violet/fallow Mother - violet sky blue recessive pied I am thiking, all spangle violet's some YF, some opaline, some cinnamon hens....?

New Classes At Nationals
From my understanding during our discussion, A suffused bird is a poorly marked BES. Out fo our club of 50+ people, plus the toher club in Adelaide, not one person bred suffused. They do have suffused birds, but they don't purposley breed them. There is not set standard for a suffused bird. How can you breed a birds colour to perfection, if there is no explanation of what colour the bird is ment to be? How can they judge a bird on markings? My veiw is that two people could see a suffused and a BES, and breed the two together, thinking they are breeding the same mutation. I agree with you completley GB on the fallow to cinnamon, and TCB's to cinnamon's etc. It is bringing the birds down. This will just add another headache to the other headache's! Also, I think the 16mm perch is going to be changing back? As with the new powder coated cage fronts....OFF TOPIC though Hey, I think suffused are gorgeous Just not for the show bench. The odd one that pops up I sometimes keep for my pet types.

could you contact the police and get them to source the number?

New Classes At Nationals
I am truly against most of the classes. I mean, Suffused is just ridiculous. How many people actually breed "Suffused" birds. There is no set standard for it, and no one breeds them as a mutation. It may also further bring the standard of the BES down if unexperienced new members breed the two birds together. MHO anyway.

New Classes At Nationals
In 2013 they will be dividing numerous classes up. ie. green will be divided into light green and dark factor green (same with skyblue and dark factor blue) , cinnamon will be divided into cinnamon blue and cinnamon green, spangle will be divided into normal spangle and spangle AOSV (same with opaline), a violet class added, and a "suffused" class will be added. This will be trialled over 2013 and 2014. There will only be two birds a class with no 3rd bird (I think)

New Classes At Nationals
Hi all I was just wondering all of your opinions on the new 6 classes that will be coming into the nationals if the movement is passed at the next ANBC meeting (April 7th) At our club meetin last night we had a very.....heated discussion, with a few people getting quite angered. This was the first that we have heard about it. I think we have been kept in the dark a bit, as it took them 6 months to create a group to decide what to do, a further 3 months to come up with it, and then they give us 3 weeks to make our decision if we would like our delegates to vote in what way. I personally am STRONGLY against it, (not that it affects me much) but I was just wondering all your opinions on it.

I Would Buy This In A Heart Beat
Woah, that is quite cheap! I have the space, different state though! I would probably knockout one of the wire walls to make two compartments on ventilated side (nursery aviary/cull birds in smaller compartment and breeding room) and then on the other side knock out a wire wall mirroring the other side and have retired/pet birds in one and adult breeders in the big one.

New Hen
Thanks guys. Here are a few more piccies. Here I am thinking she is an 07 hen.... Turns out she is a blue ring! ( 09/10 bird) Overall: Wings: Face shots Vent: (I assume she is dark green split blue, I hadn;t looked at her properly in good light, which is why I was possibly mistaken for violet green)

New Hen
Hi Dave yes, She is more grey-green in real life. This is a phone camera though, all the colours are quite saturated/ mis-coloured.

New Hen
Here is my new hen She was $20, down from $30 because I knew the person selling her. Mates rates She is an opaline spangle grey-green ( I am thinking maybe a violet green?) She is a green ring hen. I am really dying to breed her as she is in perfect condition, but quarintine comes first. I plan to put her to a rather untidy large light green spangle cock I have. Then put her to a normal grey-green neat but still large cock I have. Then breed half brother to half sister. Here she is, I will hopefully get a few more piccies later on, as Dad has the camera on holidays These are from my phone, not the best quality

No need to pressure, any new piccies though?

Needs A Mate?
I am glad that she is doing good. My idea was to get a net, and put it over the hole of the nest box. Then, when she comes out, she falls into the net. But fi you don't want to catch her, that is fine. I would love to be able to have a "free" budgie, but I know mine would just fly off We won't be able to age her unless she is under 1 year old, as once a budgie becomes an "adult' , there is no way to properly age them.

Needs A Mate?
He actually mentioned it was a nesting box kaz, I think he realises. But if you did put here in a cage/aviary, she could finally have a male friend to keep her company
