Is Stumped For Mutation...?
I am thinking a bit washed, so far it looks sky blue but it is looking a tiny bit diluted. Not as much as a cinnamon sky blue would have though.

Is Stumped For Mutation...?
Pictures. Also, I have an idea. Any chance this chick is a CLEARFLIGHT? I know this is a very very rare mutation in Aus, but I had a cock bird (totally unrelated) that was a normal green, with yellow flight feathers. I was told by a club member he was just a dom pied ( he did have a faint band) but I know this bird isn' a rec. or dom. pied. Abnormality circled:

Is Stumped For Mutation...?
Hi everyone. I have a very peculair chick. I have scanned the mutations in my head, and have not yet seen anything like this. This chick is a normal blue but..... HAS WHITE FLIGHTS? The chicks sire is a normal green cock. The hen is a cinnamon light green split blue. The father also must be split blue, but originally I was expecting normal green's all round with cocks split cinnamon. When looking in the nest today, I saw this chick. He looked different, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it (compared to his normal blue sis/brother) The wing markings ALMOST look TCB on the flights, kind of grizzed in the secondaires also, but TCBs normally have that on their wing feathers.. Further observation also (just now:P ) has appeared that the feathers on the back/between wings are a light/grizzled grey also. Any ideas?

Nest Feather Show Sa
Sorry for your 'tiel. I had to leave the show and go home to look after one of mine. She seems to be slowly fading away, I don't think she will survive the night. The ring mix-up will have resolved by next year hopefully I don't know if there will be, as our website manager hasn't put up most of the show results for this year. I will ask tommorrow at our next meeting I took home best junior UBC and best young bird. I was happy, apart from the competition was me , myself and I They still look pretty though

Cere Colour Not Changing?
Any chance this has to do with his mutation? Shows a pink cere like rec. pied cock. Some birds are late bloomers also

Two older chicks: Older is on right. I am thinking oldest is maybe cock, younger is hen. They have got to the stage were they like to be girafee's, and peek around 4 younger chicks: I am thinking the older two are hens. I will need to wait and see. Two older foster chicks on top Two twin chicks. I am a little miffed, the YF cinnamon one is smaller then the other chick. BUT I suppose if one hatched early in the day and another later on, there could be a bit of difference. Foster chick left, YF parented chick right.

I have noticed it is a LITTLE bit slower. Sometimes when I click on things it says loading, but nothing happens. I then re-click and it goes like normal.... not sure if that made sense

This Round's Breeding Journal
Woops forgot to mention. Pair 2 was taken out because of clutch of 4 clear eggs. So now pair three has been renamed pair 2 . I am wishing I left pair 2 in now, but I was wanitng the cage for another promising pair. I am also glad for the pinkies I havent been getting as much fertility/chick rate because of only running 4 boxes in outdoor weather. BUT now weather is warming up, I am getting more fertility and I got another 2 cages, so I will be getting quite a few chicks.

This Round's Breeding Journal
okay, Well Updates Pair 1: All chicks hatched on their days. I had 2 chicks, break, then 4 chicks. All 2 days apart. They currently have their 3 oldest chicks in her nest. I am not sure about the youngest, has an empty crop and has had for the last hour. I have taken the two older chicks out for handling, and also to encourage mum to feed. Pair 2: They have 3 chicks form pair one. And, better news is..... THEY HAVE ONE OF THEIR OWN! The other eggs still are not looking DIS. If she has more chicks, I will be forced to foster her foster chicks back to original parents. The pair's one solo chick of their own is the same age as the youngest foster.

Great looking site! But, As much as I do love the good old default skin, I will be happy for some newer, unique ones. I am very happy with the phone format, not iPhone, but just of a normal phone it makes it more readable It took me a little bit of finding to get the "New Posts" function.

You wanted a reason! Why were the chicks in there? I give it to you. but I wasn't going to say " Well, blah blah blah blah, it was my fault" because then you guys would have wanted to know why, the full story. Oh and you forgot one important part Kaz.

How Would I Describe This Baby
How come you wouldn't say that with his mutation? *confused* I thought you do as it's part of the colouring of the bird? Plus it saves Steve having to ask the question about the blue later on, as I know some people don't know why there would be blue (or green if a DF was yellow) was there. I too think the parents are those mutations, though at first I wasn't too sure on the hen. It's like havinga spangle with muddy wings markings. If you are later on going to breed that bird, to a noraml green for example, you wouldnt say. The cock is a DF Spangle Blue with suffusion to a normal green hen. The suffusion has no imapct on the chicks from that clutch )green spangles). Its like saying. I am putting a dirty marked clearwing to a blue spangle with muddy wings. You don't need to know those extra details on the markings. The best example I can think of is. I am putting a dark marked cinnamon blue to a blue hen. You would just say cinnamon blue to blue. Does that make sense?

The weather was nice yesterday when I was out, and mum put the chicks in the cage with the lutes I forgot to mention quarintine to her. It was my fault though. The wings is of a hen I bought yesterday also, just a pet-type though so she is being quarintined with them. looks that way kaz you starting to breed lutinos squeak Nah, they are for my TCB Line. I didn't really want the cock, I have to many, but I thought I should get some more lute visuals to put into TCBs, apart from 2 hens I have now. I suppose I will breed them as a line, just not as seriously and to put into my other line. The lute cock is 2006 though, only one or two seasons left. But he was a steal for $20. I was hoping on getting some albino hens, but most of them had quite flat blows and backskull, and not much directional feather. Which is what I need in my TCB's Now of them called out to me like the lute hen

The cinnnamon sky cock WAS lovely. All of the birds sold in the end, with the cheapest birds going for 2 for $20 in a last attempt to sell them. I think there was about 5 or 6 bird that went between $100 - $150. I got a lovely lutino cock bird and a nice hen also, both $20.

How Would I Describe This Baby
Yes, he is a DF Spangle. He has suffusion, but you don't say that when you say his mutation. He is just a white DF spangle. I am thinking the parents are Mum- Light Green Opaline Spangle Dad- Sky Blue Opaline Spangle

Up to 5 I fostered the two youngest out to the hen in Pair 5 , and she as been feeding them happily. The youngest was born today, so she ahs a 2 and 0 day old chick. All chicks have been born on their days. The youngest two were being trampled on by their siblings (who are getting quite big ) Her eggs are past due date BUT they are not showing DIS yet, as far as I can tell.

Mum Dead And Chicks Are Not Thriving With Hand Rearing
What happened to the father? My stongest reccomendation would be going to a vet and getting them teach you how to crop feed. Babies really dont get enough food in them through spoon or syringe feeding. I found when I spoon fed, I was not even giving them a quarter of what I give them now. I learnt how to crop feed, and the birds are getting 4.5mL to 6mL twice a day. I realised, the mess involved with syringe feeding, I was barley getting a mL into them! How often are you feeding the chick? Have you tried putting seed in there to get him to pick at it? I would really reccomend going to a vet. Or locating your local club, and ringing up a member from it.
