Gorgeous! I am glad you got him/her, after our chats about it. Gorgeous fallow also Mmmh and I love your nails. BUT back to topic. Gorgeous chick!- Our Other Birds
Cute canaries! With the move, will you slowly take the nests away, or all at once? Cute baby quails, I love mine but mince normally hatch in the morning, and by the time I get there in the 'arvo, dad has killed them I think I may try putting them in a brooder next time.- G'day, Newbie Looking For Some Help, Please.
I am coming your way at about christmas time, I coud bring a dozen or so over Depends how long you want to wait.- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
I would say that that is a pretty good reason that you might be getting confused And I only just realised that when typing- Are Auctions Killing Our Hobby
My parents give me opputunities, and I earn all the money I spend on birds in my job. My parents strongly belive that us kids should earn our stuff, not be given it. But on occasions were I buy a new aviary ( $250) my parents recognised that it is alot of money for someone my age to raise, so they paid for $50 of it ( not much, but some )- Infected Eye?
he probably had scaley- Infected Eye?
I only managed to get one applicaton on this morning, as I was out shopping (got a new dress ) most the day. Here is the cocks eye, starting to get a tiny bit more inflamed towards night, so I am going to get another application on now. (that would make two today) ( I caight it on the wrong angle, it only covers approx. 1/3 of eye. It is darker then yesterday, it was more of a red/pink colour yesterday,- This Round's Breeding Journal
Nope, only the youngest. I heard you can squeeze air out of the crop or something? I just had to correct myself sorry: Youngest plum eyed chick died 2 days ago. Full crop Older (still very young and undergrown) plum eyed chick died earlier on this morning, with lots of air in crop. Youngest green chick died later on in the morning, full crop. (It seemed to be on it's back alot?) My birds always have access to cuttlebone and mineral block. Any that need it get trimmed every three weeks. Pictures: Oldest chick - 25 days old - Blue CLEARBODY (both parents are split blue and.... Dad must be split clearbody) 2nd Chick- 22 days old - Normal Blue 3rd Chick - 18 days old - Normal Green 4th Chick - 16 dyas old - Normal Green, has alot of yellow so it may yet be a clearbody? 5th chick - 14 days old - To young, green base I am thinking. Anyone else think she is quite small? She was in the nest with the others who died, so maybe the hen hasn't been feeding properly?- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
I meant about the chick having blue tail feathers, when they should be black, but that was answered a bit back about how chicks don't always replicate the adult mutation. Like I said, the only reason I am a bit thrown away from clearbody (and I just realised as I am typing!) that all the TCB chicks I have had are Opaline. That may be why the wing markings looked peculiar to me? Not sure sorry- Is Stumped For Mutation...?

Hm. Well the youngest plum eyed chick died two days ago. It's crop was full with lot's of air, and it was a very slow grower. I then woke this morning to find the first plum eyed chick dead. If that wasn't bad enough, the youngest chick fostered from the green parents died as well! 3 deaths from the same nest. So now, the green pair has all 5 of their chicks. I am thoroughly cleaning out the YF's nestbox, then giving them a few days rest before trying out another round in a bigger nestbox (they are in one of my smaller cages)- Infected Eye?
Has cleared up ALOT since yesterday. it is barley swollen. I will try and get a picture- Infected Eye?
Were can i buy broline from? So it is okay to place teabag directly on eye, then put a few drops in eye? Thanks guys! Will try suggested cures.- Fallows
Wow, the oldest chick looks nice!- Infected Eye?
I dunno, I aksed mum and she said she hasn't heard of anything like it? Also, when you say bathe, I got a syringe and put one drop on the eye, then got a cotton bud and wiped the are around it. Is this right? He rubbed his eye alot afterwards on the perches/with his foot. So make a cup of tea (no milk ), remove teabag, and use the tea?- Infected Eye?
Hi I just bought in a cock bird from the aviary, and it seem's his eye is infected. swollen, lots of rubbing. It looks like his inner eyelid. I bathed it in warm salt-water, but I am just wondering, if he has something stuck under there making it go swollen, how do I get it out? is a very expensive vet visit on it's way?- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
Kaz, the last time I protested it was a clearbody was on my fourth post in the last thread. I am not saying I don't belive any of you, but the only post I said that I don't belive was at the start. Much discussion has been said since then. You asked for pictures, and I gave them to you. I asked a couple questions about why I am confused that the bird appears clearbody, but no one has yet to answer me? And I know that birds look different in baby feather. You can't tell me once again as your point that it looks different in baby feathers, when I already know it looks different, and on one has answered my question about it.- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
Photo's. Full Body: Body Colour: (is richer in real life) Wing pictures:- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
No need. Tail colour is obvious as we can see in this photo More pictures to come, I will get the macro camera out for clearer close-ups.- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
i think i should now mention the chicks tail is blue- Is Stumped For Mutation...?
The breeder has not bought an outcross ( or any budgie into their stud) for over 15 years. But if this chick is a tcb, by some strange miracle, it will be a darn cra*one, as i think the standard for their flights are suffused/grey, not CLEA R WHITE the secondaries are grizzled, flights clear - Dom Pied Baby
