  1. Coral that people can buy as use for a substrate in fish tanks and the like is mostly harvested from the wild while it is alive and well. Corals are beautiful and amazing creatures and I'd discourage anyone from using them for aquarium or budgie use. Use calcium supplements, they're not that expensive better yet if you eat eggs keep the shells and grind them down they're also natural, inexpensive and you'd be reducing your waste. Just my opinion but I'd rather not support the harvest of corals.
  2. Thanks Nubbly, I'd pretty much given up thinking that anyone would ever answer this post How would either of these guys go as potential partners? Okay or should I keep looking? 1st Cinnamon Grey Green 2nd Grey Spangle
  3. That Sky Blue Dominant Pied from pair 4 is fantastic, I absolutely adore him. I love dominant Pieds!!!
  4. Grey Spangle Dominant Pied, its looking like it could be a hen to me. See what others think.
  5. Well you'd just think I was the most horrible person Butters had ever met, I caught her to check her weight and the way she was squalking anyone would've thought I spend my days plucking her feathers out one by one. On the up side she's bitting as hard as ever. Her weight is unchanged (at least from what I can tell), her crop is full and her face stained with carrots so I think she's eating fine. But she's still not herself and this is her bottom, note the watery greenish poo stains. I haven't changed her diet since I brought her..... Although I did start her cage drinking out of a bottle and added Calcivet and Aviclens to the water, I don't think this should have had a detrimental effect though? If I can't find an avian vet I'll call my vet and see who she reccomends.
  6. Butters the Lutino hen from my avatar is looking ill today, she's very fluffed up, her wings are drooped and her bottom is looking a bit dirty (looks like greenish watery diarrhea). Any ideas on what to do until I can find an avian vet in my area? Keep her warm......... anything else?
  7. More Pics Chalk eating Carrot Ghost, from the first pics in this thread, almost finished moulting.
  8. On the bright side no need to foster any out anymore.

Wow 65 eggs!!! That's a lot of new birds you've got on the way. I'm sure a lot of members would be glad to give you a hand if you need to free up a little space in your aviaries Very nice birds.
  10. 1st Round Pairings for the above birds (just for fun) Lutino Cock (Cassanova) - Grey Green Hen (Lock-Jaw) Expected Outcome: Normal cocks split for Lutino & Opaline (assuming cock is not masking anything) Lutino Hens Not great at judging but I'm hoping that he'll improve on her overall length and length of mask and that she'll give him a bit more width and better directional feathering. Grey Green/Lutino Cock (Cheese)- Normal Sky Blue Hen (Chalk) Expected Outcome Normal/Lutino Cocks Normal Cocks Normal Hens Lutino Hens Grey Green split for Blue Grey/Albino Cock (Steel) - Albino Hen (Lee-Wo) Expected Outcome Albino Cocks Normal/Albino Cocks Albino Hens Normal Hens Sky Blue Opaline Yellow Face Cock (Mr) - Double Factor Spangle Hen (Princess) Expected Outcome Spangle/Opaline Cocks Spangle Opaline Hens Some with Yellow Face All Blue Series. Hoping he'll improve on her mask length, blow and back skull........... Corrections welcome
  11. I pretty much have decided on my pairs for the 1st round of breeding but unless I get some really fantastic chicks out of a pairing the 1st time around I was wanting to pair the birds differently for the 2nd round. It's my 2nd round pairs that I'm trying to work out now and the above are possibilities I was considering.
  12. It's a Lutino cock I just wrote it around the wrong way in the title (sorry for the confusion). Fixed
  13. I could put my Lutino hen to my Split Lutino Cock but was thinking of trying to get some Green Spangles.
  14. 2nd cock is Grey Green visually normal split for Lutino.
  15. Just wondering what you'd get from the combos above? Lutino Cock (Cassanova). - Albino Hen (Lee-Wo). All Lutino - Ino-Ino pairing green dominant over blue? Creaminos - Light yellow chicks produced from the loss of intensity to the lutino/ the addition of yellow to albino? Lutino Hens & Split Albino cocks. None of the above? Grey Green/Lutino Cock (Cheese). - DF Spangle Hen (Princess). Spangle/Lutino Cocks Spangle Cocks Lutino masking Spangle Hens Spangle Hens All Grey Green with a possibility of some Greys?
  16. Seems like you get a lot of hens which is good since cocks are a lot easier to get a hold of than hens. In my limited experience at least. Sorry to hear you lost some of your eggs, good luck with your babies though can't wait to see them with feathers.

The other birds that you see in there are probably nectar eaters, like rainbow lorikeets. Budgies aren't nectar eaters but they might give it a go. I agree with the above they'd probably use it more as a play thing to destroy rather than a food source. Also if you wash the actual flowers it'll more than likely remove the nectar which won't really make a difference with budgies but if you get nectar eaters down the line don't wash the blossoms.
  18. I say no frames just get them printed on canvas.

I haven't put any in with my budgie's before but generally speaking they're usually okay with natives. There's a good post on this forum about budgie safe plant though and it might be in there, I'll see if I can find it............. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....6&hl=plants Just did a google search and bottle brush seems to be okay as expected

You could probably get a spare sliding door from your local pet shop, if they don't have them on hand they should be able to get one for you with their bird cage order if not try a second hand store, salvos, side of the road on council pick up day, if I was after a spare door I'd probably go and buy a whole cage from my local tip (they sell people's rubbish after getting them to pay $ to dump it) for about $2-5, then you'll have lots of spare bits you could use elsewhere.
  21. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Great news, looking forward to seeing how these chicks develop
  23. Is it Omelette that has 'the big egg', if it is has it hatched yet?
  24. A bit hard to tell from the picture.... Maybe Snowy: Double Factor Spangle and Luna: Yellow Face Blue Spangle. Both look female to me at this stage, better pics needed to be certain.
  25. Yellow Face Sky Blue Cinnamon Spangle.
